Your Home Park... Endless Love or Complete Bore?!

DD - If I were to use your criteria, I have no homepark.

SFGAm is more than 30 minutes away from me. It takes me 1 to 11/2 hours by public transportation, and is about 45 minutes depending on traffic by car.

SFGAm is not my first childhood park, and I have no cherished memories of the place.

I don't visit SFGAm more times than other parks in a season.

I don't really care about SFGAm rumors and such. As long as Shockwave ends up at SFAW, I'll be happy. I really think they deserve it now. ;)

My home park is VF and there is no way anyone could love that place. It beats the heck out of nothing, but not by much. And the pictures of Magnum, MF and Raptor on their pop machines is really nothing short of torture. The only reason to go to VF is to get your season pass (2003 passes are $59) so that you can go to MIA and CP.

DorneyDante:

You use the term "hometown park". I consider the term "home park" and "hometown park" two different things.

"Hometown park" does have alot to do with geography... that's the park in your "hometown". "Home Park" to me is more of "where do you feel at home."

I would venture that most people on this site have a park they call a "home park"... but a good many have none that they call "hometown park" (i.e. there is no park in the near vacinity... not in the same town or even neighboring towns or cities).

-----------------
Kind of hard to take a post as objective if a park or coaster name is part of the "user name"

My home park is Paramounts Kings Dominion...i have never grown tired of it, i have spent every summer there since i was tall enough to ride the rides, and have watched it just grow by leaps and bounds, especially once Paramount bought the park. Besides, we have Hypersonic XLC, so who could ever tire of that?? :)

My only gripe....we have always gotten the first in lauch technology...we got the first linear induction launcher (along with PKI) in the form of the Flight of Fear..we got the first inverted launcher in the form of Volcano the Blast Coaster and now we got the first air launch coaster in the form of XLC.....As much as i love launchers, this park needs a hyper ! A big HUGE Intamin or Morgan hyper !! But the new Drop Zone at 300 plus feet will make up for it, at least for this season :)

Agreed!

I sometimes find myself growing a bit bored with SFA, then I ride SROS and it seems a lot less boring. The problem isn't the park so much as the repetiion by the 10th visit. I particularly enjoy October because of the extra different attractions.
Feel the Strike: I wouldn't mind SFAW only getting a single twist impulse, but it would be the only impulse in the state if we did, so why not let us have the double twist model? I never could figure out why the single twist models weren't double twisted in the first place anyhow! Regardless, hopefully some kind of impulse is within SFAW's budget, because we definitely have the space for one, IF they can figure out how to keep those LIM's cooled in the sweltering Houston heat! Sure, I'd rather have something alot more extravangant, like a 4D or an Intamin hyper, but an impulse would be a really great start in the right direction, especially since I've never ridden one before! I sure hope we don't have to lose Greezed Lightnin' to get it though, but if we did, an impulse would fit perfectly in it's place. I'm sure it'd be very popular with the crowds too, so we should get one! I'm keeping all my fingers crossed for one, but I'm not holding my breath for it.

I know that I have some endless love for Kennywood. Everytime I go there I find something new. Its just a great old traditional amusement park. Nothing really big, not a corporation feel to it, but a nice home-ish feel.

Definately endless love. GAm has an excellent collection of coasters, with a wide diversity. Many people hate the atmosphere that corporate parks have, but I can honestly say that GAm has an enjoyable atmosphere. The park is clean, lively, and has friendly employees among other things.

Never Has Gravity Been So Uplifting.

my homeparks Great Escape, and ive only been there 3 or 4 times this season. the park has been neglected over the last couple of years and hasnt really recieved anything. And when you do go they usually have the good rides closed for some time or all day now. Id rather spend an extra 20 - 30 mins in the car and goto SFNE. (13 trips to SFNE this year)

Yeah but the Great Escape was on Road Rules! lol

Thorpe park and Chessington world of adventures are my home parks. Both great for rides even though selection can run out. Heavy investment though means theres something good each year to get me back.

It's great though to go on a rollercoaster every few weeks though so i probably won't get bored of it. Time will tell! It's nice to go aswell to just have a walk round and get on a few rides.

I don't like people who take great big parks for granted. I live in New Orleans, whoa I have Jazzland and Dixielandin'. They consist of Megazeph and well Megazeph. I mean sure that is fun, but after like 300 times it starts to get old. I am not even going to go there with Dixielandin'. The highlight of that park is the enterprise. So no I don't like my home park. Well I guess I can live with Batman next year.

Well, then you are gonna hate me. My home park is PKI! And it is a bore with a capital "b". ZZZZZZZ.

Busch Gardens Williamsburg. I will love that park till I die, although they do need a couple new rides and I am extremly pissed they tore down Drachen Fire.

The park I live closest to is Canobie Lake Park. I love this park. It is a traditional family park. It only has 3 coasters. Yankee Cannonball, Canobie Corkscrew and Rockin' Rider ( a steel wild mouse ). I love Yankee Cannonball. Its airtime rules. Canobie Corkscrew is an Aarow Corkscrew. It only has two inversions. It's good but Yankee Cannonball holds the top spot by far. I don't really like Rockin' Rider. Canobie is endless love.

The park I visit most often is SFNE. It has a collection of 8 coasters. S:RoS rules! It is endless love for SFNE because of S:RoS. B:TDK is an awesome coaster too. So is Cyclone. S:RoS makes SFNE. It would be nothing without S:RoS.

Six Flags New England World

Canobie Lake Park

Lake Compounce

Kennywood. Endless Love.

They could leave that park the same as it is now forever, and never add anything, and I'd still visit it regularly. It is truly a privelege to have such a great park only 1/2 hour away.

-----------------

I don't really get bored with Dorney, but my usual visit is only 4 or 5 hours, unless we plan on hanging out at WWK. Although I prefer the real thing, it is nice to have a miniature version of Cedar Point so close.

Because VF USED to give us a good ride experience for many years on High Roller and at least 2-3 years on Wild Thing and than TAKES IT AWAY from us. It may not have been quite as bad if those rides were tamed down from their opening day but the fact that in the past they ran good there is absolutely no reason they can't run them good now!! They just want families there not thrillseeekers. The problem with Big Chief's and Adventureland is that they are not close enough to visit on a weekly basis and making a daytrip out of it and neither park to my knowledge especially Big Chief's has a season pass available. So if I want a weekly coaster fix I have to settle for Valleyfair.

-----------------

Pink Floyd Fanatic, while I can understand your frustration with Roller, I have no idea why that ride is braked as much as it is, I still have no major beef with VF when it comes to Wild Thing and I have a hard time seeing your POV.

Have any Morgan Hyper built pre Phantom's Revenge run with the Mid Course off after they've been running for a few years?

I've ridden on all the Cedar Fair Morgan Hypers and they all seem to need to have the Mid Course brake on. I wouldn't get mad at the parks, I'd be frustrated with Morgan. Because, obviously, if they're all doing there's probably something messed up with the pre station brakes.
