I can remember being scared to death of space mountain. I didn't know what went on in there, since it was enclosed. Then one day, I was riding the peoplemover, and they had the lights on and were working on it! I was like "Hey! That's no big deal!" . So I went on it afterall, and have loved it ever since.
My first adult coaster was Cedar Point's Blue Streak in 1964. It has remained a favorite since then.
Mine would have to be at SixFlags Great America. I rode the Willards Whizzer(Now called the Whizzer since Marriot doesnt own the park anymore). That was back in 1976(The parks debut season). From what I hear it is the last remaining coaster of its kind left in the world. In todays age of coasters its pretty tame but back then it got your adrenaline pumped.
Later fellow coaster junkies.
My first coaster memory would have to be the Forwards/Backwards Racer at Kings Island. I don't really rememeber much about it because I was only five or six. That Kings Island trip also taught me not to touch the sides of the slides. It ended up being my first and only trip to First Aid at an amusement park. My first real good roller coaster memory is riding Iron Dragon at Cedar Point with my grandma when I was six or seven. We only saw the very end of the ride as it was pulling into the station and it looked tame enough. We soon realized that the ride was a little more intense after pulling those OTSR's over our heads. It was also interesting seeing this 60 year old lady get into and out of the Iron Dragon cars. To add insult to injury, we ended up walking by the Witches Wheel next, once again only seeing the end of the ride, and decided to ride it too. It ended up being and interesting day for my grandma! Sorry for rambling but it was just such a funny memory that I had to post it!
My earliest coaster memory was riding the old Twister at Elitch Gardens back in the early 80's. That was one awsome ride.
The first time I went to a theme park with a major rollercoaster was when I was 10. It was a 6th grade class trip to Six Flags Great Adventure but our teachers wouldn't let us on any of the coasters:( After seeing the coasters I couldn't wait to come back and ride them. A year later I rode my first coaster, The Great American Scream Machine. After that I was hooked and me and my friend rode every single coaster in the park.

My First roller coaster memory took place at Six Flags Great America.I was eight years old. I didn't even know what a roller coaster was.(sorry to add) As I approached this huge white wooden "thing" I didn't know what or where I was going. Somehow there was no lines for this roller coaster. As I was waiting for the train to pull into the station, i asked my sister what's the roller coasters name. She said
"American Eagle"I asked her why is that it's name and she said that eagle fly high and the roller coaster is high. Right then and there I wanted to get out of line. But I didn't. And ever since then I loved roller coasters.
It was at SFGAm, when I was seven and I went on the Whizzer. Ever since then my passion for coasters grew.

DÉJÀ VU – Fast Forward…Blast Backwards!
Back in the late 1960's... I was no more than 5 years old... my dad worked for the phone company in York PA and we went on a company picnic there.
I was too small for the Cyclone (and I was too scared of it too... so were my parents, they thought it was falling apart, it still looks that way), but I did ride their little kiddie coaster.
I don't remember what it was called. I know we referred to it as the "Little Dipper". It sticks in my mind that it was made of wood, but I could be wrong. It sat somewhere off to the right of the Cyclone, and near the haunted house (now called Dante's Inferno). It is long since gone (and I have been trying to find info on this ride... if anyone can help....)

Oh the good old days... when superheros were superheros and coasters were coasters...
My first coaster memory, or the oldest I can remember ;), is riding the Whizzer at PGA with my mother when I was like, 5 or 6. I was a big lad. :) I loved it, my mother and I would ride that thing all the time, non-stop. Unless there was a large line. Peace. :)

Medusa at Marine World: the best coaster in the west!
My first coaster was the Matterhorn at DL. My first large steel coaster was the also the Whizzer (Willard's Whizzer) at MGA (Marriott's Great America) That was in the day when folks didn't call it Great America...the called it "Marriott's".
Oh...and I just about filled my pants on that thing. I was scared to death!

Chickening out on Space Mountain! Wow, that's pathetic. First real coaster memory (like actually riding) Whalom Park's Flyer Comet woodie, the first real coaster that I can remember riding.

"If we built a ride that everyone wanted to ride, it would be called an elevator, and that's not an amusement ride."

I remember getting on the Live Oak LadyBug at City park when I was 5. When I looked down the huge 19 foot drops my eyes got all wide and I was really scared.
I went on that ride 30 more times that day.

My first coaster was Dracor at Santa's Village, but, my first real coaster was the Whizzer when I was 3 or 4 years old.
Year: 1991
Age: 5 (maybe 6. Don't know)
Location: Hometown Square?; Whizzer
I remeber being scared to death of the drop! It was so high, and long! It went too fast, and had too sharp of turns, with huge trees around it. Oh year, back then, they were "Roller Closers!" Don't know why, but me and my sister would call them that.

V2, Deja Vu... how can it be better? Add Viper! Oh, wait. It's already there!
The earliest coaster memory is from Disneyland...no clue which coaster, probably Mattherhorn, but that was when I was 4 or 5.

My first coaster was the River King Mine Train at SFStL...I cried my eyes out.(I was 5) About one year later, I took my next ride, and I was hooked. One year later I took my first big coaster ride, on the Screamin' Eagle. It shook me up a bit, so I was scared of coasters for several years, until 1997, when I took my first Raven ride. I've ridden any and everything ever since then. Thank you Raven.:)

"Hold on tight, with all your might, and enjoy your flight on the Raven!"
My earliest memory wasn't really "riding a coaster" but it was Winterfast at PKI (KI, at the time) and I remember being so thrilled because like alot of kids I loved X-mas trees...and to see the 2000 feet (you know how little kids always exaggerate height!) Eifel Tower lookin at like a X-mas tree...oh was I in awe. But Winterfest was just awesome though...and does anyone remember how people could skate where the fountains are on International Street? And where the minature train sets used to be? I could go on and on....

The first rollercoaster that I can remember is the Junior Gemini at CP. I don't know how old I was maybe 3 or 4. The first adult coaster was the Corkscrew at GL.
Shady Lake incidentally, has become a condo complex. I believe that humphrey's are still making their popcorn and taffy at that site as well. It was located in Streetsboro on SR 14 between WalMart and the Turnpike. Of course WalMart wasn't there at the time.

First memory:
Kiddie coaster at the legendary Bois Blanc Island (aka Bob-lo), Amhestberg ONT. I can just remember the banging and pounding as the train fought the little hops at what must have been 10 MPH.
First adult coaster: Although I'm certain it was CP's Corkscrew in '76, I was far more terrified by a front seat ride on Blue Streak....staring down at the bottom of the hill while cresting the first drop.
