You know how fright fest at GAm last year was horrible? Well I was at the park on Friday and the A-Merri-Go-Round (The one in county fair) was all decorated. It looked great. So at least there will be something in County Fair this year. and that's better then last year so that's progress.

Huhhh??? They already decorated the carousel in County Fair? Its only August/September.

Will be there for Labor Day to verify this. :)

Well this year is supposed to be the 13th year Fright Fest is celebrated at SFGAM. There are some other signs that they are already starting to prepare for fright fest. I bet it will be extra good this year compared to other years.

I have never been to GAM for fright fest. I liked how they decorate the Ameri-go-round with all the mist coming out of it at night. It would be cool if they could run it backwords. I do not know if they are able to or not but it would be cool.

When we were auditioning for the fright fest season this past February, we were told that "fright fest had been toned down" in the past few years, and that this year was going to be a blow-out, with much more decorating and walking characters, etc.

Welcome to Six Flags Great America, home of the fastlane and delay-ja vu! We have now officially been deemed the world-wide wait!

wahoo! I hope this trend of blowing-out will continue into the following years 'cause those toned down versions of fright fest really sucked.

My educated guess is that Fright Fest will be a disappointment, "blow-out" or not, because Jewel's 2 for 1 passes have diminished the value of our season pass.

Since, for all practical purposes, it now costs $20 to get in to GA, it actually takes four or five trips to the park for the value of the season pass to really kick in, unlike two visits, which was advertised.

In addition, each trip is less satisfying because of significantly increased waits for just about every coaster because of these cost cutting techniques. As an example, this past Saturday, the line for the Demon, which usually has the shortest line of any coaster in the park, was back to the entrance of the queue. In previous years, I've observed that September weekends have been less crowded than summer weekends, but that was not the case this Saturday.

Wait, I thought those 2 for 1 things are only good unitl today (Sept. 1). Arent they? If they are then hopefully crowds will be "normal" at Fright Fest.

Heres a pic of the carousel. http://groups.msn.com/kylecoasterworld/sfgamaugust30th.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=2071 There are more of it too.

"This Saturday" was in August and it was Labor Day. You should expect crowds like that.

The 2 for 1 at jewel tickets are valid till Sept. 21st.

That's great news for us passholders.

Well i was at the park today and i can verify that the Ameri-go-round is already decorated for halloween, seems to me too early to day this and wonder how time/weather will affect the decorations They also changed the signage in the theater near Superman for firght fest already.
As an aside it was a great day at the park!!!!! Little to no lines for most rides excpet for SUF which had smaller lines. The park wasnt busy at all but i would guess the weather forecasts scared away some people so it was an excellant day at the park. The slight rain was only a minor inconvience. And as normal the green lawn ornament was down again!!!
Definitely a great day Bob O. We practically walked on every coaster that we rode. Viper was a 1 train wait, RB was about 10 mins, V2 was a 1 train wait, Batman was a walkon, and my god , Superman was a 5 minute wait.

Great day for some power riding.

Kevin Max. Six Flags is hurting. They need to do what they can to get peeps through the gate. If it means an average price of $20 to get in , than so be it. If you want future projects to appear at the park, you are going to have to get used to crowded days.

The Ameri-go-Round did look great decorated. It is basically a way to let people know that Fright Fest is coming.

I would certainly call this season a blow-out. If they already started decorating they must either have a lot of decorations or they are advirtising. Either way the creature crew (creepy dudes) this year looks great. Here is a link to the site.

Sorry to ressurect an old topic, but I thought I'd post this. This year rather then Dead and Breakfast they are getting a new house. Sleepy Hollow: 3:D. sounds fun. And they are doing a blowout as far as creature crew goes. Here is a link to the creature crew website for more information on fright fest.
