You gotta see this! (Stratosphere)

Why are the cars enclosed? That takes half the thrill out. They should just put a little windshield on the front car. This ride looks awesome, but if it goes up 720', would the other tower need to be more than just 415'? It must have either heavy  losses or heavy braking.
That thing looks insane!!!  Does anybody know the status of it right now?  I would ride that thing in a second.  When it was explained i thought it was just a normal gigantic freefall ride.  I can't wait to see this thing in action.

Wow...I bet once someone rides that there will be no word for it...

In my book I don't really call that a coaster. I'd think I'd go to Vegas to gamble, then take my winnings and spend it on this ride. Ok, maybe not my winnings

I do agree that the cars should be open but who knows. This thing still looks awsome!!

Check out my all new coaster site!!

Before it EVEN begins, it's a thrillride. Arrow is calling it a thrill ride, the Statosphere is calling it a thrill ride, the town is calling it a thrill ride... The only thing it has in common with a coaster is that it rolls, but since when does that make it a coaster? Cars roll and they're not coasters... Please please PLEASE don't start this!

I am sorry that we are upsetting you.  People make mistakes, it is obviously a thrillride, and we can figure that out, it isn't a big deal.  I can't wait for this COASTER.  :)

i dont call this a coaster either, s:te is a coaster, its hard to explain in my words, but i'll try.  i think STE is a coaster because it is launched out of the station and up the tower, this just falls, then is lifted back up.  its like a *really* big demon drop with a 2nd tower, thats all.  and im not sure how the GP would respond to this, do you really think alot of people really want to drop 740ft?  thats like going to the top of the tower on the viewing roof and saying, hey, lets jump off the edge!!  but safely of course.  seriously, i WOULD NOT GO ON THIS,and ive ridden MF too, and loved it.  i mean jeez, im afraid to be on the roof of stratosphere period, because its so tall.  but then again, this is my opinion.
-----------------
I think that the ride looks kinda dumb cause if it just went up then dropped? I agree with Lorrie.  I wouldn't want to be in the station when that thing came flying down from 700 feet.
LOL!  Most of you couldn't even explain how it works, yet your already trying to tell us what to call it?  I agree with the person above who said it doesn't matter what it is, it looks terrifying.  I know it's human nature to try and label everything, but please...

And then Jerry said, "Take care of yourselves, and each other".
I don't understand the physics of this ride... How can the ride go down 700+ feet to accend a tower that is 'only' 415 feet? Wouldn't the car fly right off the end? is there breaks at the base of the hook? Is there brakes on the vertical tower? Can someone explain how this could or couldn't work WITHOUT breaks...

Seems like something that will be broke down most of the time. It seems like a boring idea to me. I know it would be crazy to build but I think they should build a full circuit coaster around the hotel.

i dont see how being lifted up 750 feet and dropped and then going back up 400 feet and falling again is boring

They already did, and it sucks.

I guess it would be safe to say that the first drop would be vertical?
Sorry people, but the lawyers for the ride said that its not a coaster themselves. Thats the whole basis of their appeal to the residents. I can find the article if you want. But still this thing is ridiculous! Most cities don't even have a skyscraper that tall!
until they make a ride taller then mf at cedar point you all will think everything else sux.

One word NITRO.
This is going to be incredible. I am hoping to find out when it is open so I can get to Vegas to ride it. Think about this, The second tower is as tall as the tallest roller coaster in the world, and you guys are complaining. I can't wait to ride it.
-----------------
Look at the picture...there is an elevator shaft to the top! Stop about this loading stuff and look at the picture! Oh...i think this thing will be the closest alternative to skydiving.
loading: there's an elevator that goes up the first drop.  this will probably take pasangers up to the station and down after the ride is over.

750' vs. 415': perhaps Arrow is looking into magnetic breaking?  that's the only way I can think to explain the short height of the second tower.

capacity: I would really hope that they have two tracks.  the first one would take riders from the top of the first tower to the top of the second.  then a transfer track would place the car on the second track.  the car would then free fall down the second tower and be lifted up the first tower to another transfer track that would put the car back on the first track.  otherwise the wait for this thing will be just as insane as it's height.

position/open vs. closed cars: I would love to be standing up while falling down that first tower, but that would mean that you would be upside down on the second tower and we don't know what happens at the top of that second tower.  this definatly wouldn't work with my transfer track idea.  a closed car would be kinda bad, but you also don't want your face ripped off by the air.

Arrow: can we say comeback?
