Yet Another Flooding...Hersheypark Pics

Once again another park suffers a flood. Looks like you would certainly need to lift your feet up on Great Bear to keep from getting wet! On second thought you may want to wear a poncho on Great Bear!

Looks like Comet Hollow became a lake. Interesting pics. I can't believe the water is rushing OVER the bridge.
A poncho? Hell you'd need scuba gear to ride Great Bear, the water is that close! ;)

Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger

I was there last weekend, and I must say, after seeing the flooding first hand, and also in the pictures, it's a miracle that the park was open Sunday. It was my first trip to the area and was anxious to get to the park Sunday morning to see if they would be open. All rides were running, and the park looked great! They cleaned up the debris, layed down new mulch in flowered areas, and trimmed broken bushes. A simply amazing job by the staff made for a great day!
So let me get this straight...

You are saying that Hersheypark looked better the day after it was flooded than some parks look under normal circumstances?

Hmmmmm... very interesting...

Good point ;)
But not surprising.
All that brown water.....they missed a great marketing opportunity....they could have said it was a river of chocolate.

lata, jeremy

"My chocolate must never be touched by human hands!"

Yeah until someone stupid enough would drink from the "river of chocolate", get sick and die...well then there's a lawsuit on Hershey's hands...

That's a lot of water.

Does anyone know how bad Idlewild flooded? It usually doesn't take much for them.

Somewhat related to that... anyone have an idea of how much rain would be needed to flood Kennywood? ;)
Those pictures are amazing, especially since I was at the park too on Sunday with friends. You would never know that the water had been that high just hours before.

Like the other posters mentioned, all the rides along the creek were operating on Sunday. All that was closed were the concessions and games in Comet Hollow and around the Trailblazer. (No Pit Beef, darn it) I guess it wouldn't be much fun playing Whack-a-soggy-mole.

The only down part was that it was eerily dark in those areas once the sun set without the lights from the closed stands. We were also hoping they might be a bit lenient with the 8:00 closing time, since they had been closed the day before. But at 8 sharp, all the ride lines were either chained off or had an employee stationed there. Oh well, only 4 weeks till Hersheypark in the Dark.

No no no. They would fall in , and then get sucked up the tube that goes to the marshmallow room.

/nerdiness

Augustus, my sweetheart! Save some room for later!!

Lol and little oompa loompas would be waiting for them there? Or would they be mini Hershey kisses and Reese bar characters? :)

Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger

Oompa Loompas that share a likeness with Amish people (given the geographic region).

I'm not sure... but if you get in line for Noah's Ark and you and there are two white tail deer, two black bears, two ground hogs, etc queued up in front of you, you might have a problem.

If you're in line for Noah's Ark, you're probably in the best possible place!

Just as FYI, for anyone who is curious...I deleted the Bushkill topic. Too much bickering. I didn't want Jeff or one of the mods to be blamed for it disappearing.
