Year of the unthemable coasters?

A good coaster doesnt need theming because its enough of a thrill just watching it or riding it. Plus, on half the theming, how can you see it anyway? I mean you are going in excess of 60 on most coasters and they have placed themed objects next to the track. Thats all fine and dandy, but half the time ya cant see it! Just an observation

Yes, Wildfire has excellent theming. And it really adds to the ride IMO. Same with Dueling Dragons. But I don't think theming helps much unless it's really good. Case in point: Top Gun at PKI -- it seems like they tried but it might as well not be there. I also thought the Hulk's theming kinda sucked, and same with Batman: The Ride. Specifically, both have very loud noises playing in the enclosed queue line that make me think I'm gonna be deaf when I get off the ride. Note to SF and IOA: theming should make the long wait better, not worse, than it would be otherwise.

V2 has a theme at SFGAm. The theme is nice green alge water! Oh, I think someone already said, X-Flights theme is an airport. X. I can think of no way to theme that. How could they? With a name like X, they could theme it like a race track and you could be "Racer X," but then shouldn't the coaster be called Racer X. I guess only 1 coaster has a real theme.

StandUpFan, if you were disappointed in IOA's theming, I don't know what's gonna get it for you. I felt like I was in a completely different World. Not only outside of Ohio on vacation in Orlando, but just someplace else. I swear I took 50 pictures just at Suess Landing. And I've waited 7 years for a Jurassic "Park". I can't begin to describe my feelings of the park. It just blew me away.

I do agree, my park SFGA , you gotta wonder whats gonna happen with V2, near the gross water? who knows,, its really close to loggers run and yankee clipper, it looks really cool, but not as high as the shockwave.. and deja vu still has that loop to go,, whys it taking so long? But yeah,, the rides this year look like they are just thrown in.. like, hurry , pile them in there!

X and Deja Vu actually WILL be themed, though to what extent I have no idea. X will have a space age, "Area 51" theme. Deja Vu will have a "California surfer" theme, at least the one at SFMM will.
