XtremeCoasters posts a photo update of Six Flags Great Adventure's opening day. Photos show that there is still a tremendous amount of work left to complete the Golden Kingdom and Kingda Ka, the park's record-breaking rocket coaster.

Judging a ride before its even opened, nothing new.

I don't think I ever read anywhere that KingDa Ka was supposed to be open for opening day, so I'm not surprised. In fact the only guesstimate date that I've heard was Memorial Day weekend but I can't recall where I got this from.

Still... it's exciting to see that the season finally rolling off to a start.

I thought I remember seeing an official release from Six Flags stating that it would NOT be open in time for opening day, but rather sometime in early May?
Does the entire launch have the catwalk along side it. I've never noticed it before in the construction pictures ?

From a maintenance standpoint that would certainly make a lot of sense. Dragster blows a small air hose now and then and it it seems they spend a lot of time replacing the nylon inserts in the catch car track. It sure would be easier to deal with if they didn't need a ladder or cherry picker every time to get up there.
Thats true, I've seen it happen a few times through my visits while waiting inline. Maybe a good idea could have been installing a track along side the launch and have a moible cart much like MF has availible on the lift, it also wouldnt be so much of a eye sore to stand out, rather than having this catwalk extend the entire launch.
