Xcelerator's modifications show how top hat will be braced

Posted | Contributed by xbombman

Knott's Berry Farm's Xcelerator modification continues as cables have been attached between the towers and the ground. A crossbeam is on site and appears to fit between the towers. Meanwhile, red car bodies will cover one of the trains. GR8 SK8's control panel has been installed while Camp Snoopy's theater takes shape.

WOW, a lot of hard work at KBF. Anyone knows the openning date of Xcelerator?
Well, I have heard 2 people recently say that is scheduled to open back up on April 1st,Tuesday. Whether it will run 1 or 2 trains the first few days is another question. Remember, the April 1st date is an estimate. It was very windy today (45 mph gusts) so they may not have been able to go and attach the one new support.
Where you are Speedy, 8 miles from KBF and we have no wind.

I suspect that when it does re-open in a few days, it will have 1 train. But if it does in fact open on April 1st, who cares? KBF on a weekday is empty! They would only run 1 train on an offseason weekday anyway.

Those cords/cables/wires, make the coaster look kind ugly. However as long as they make the coaster safe, that is all that matters. I wonder if the sway was that bad ?

I don't know, but I don't trust that the covers are "new" like the site says. Why replace when you can paint?

The yellow front shell is in this picture along with the red shells.
I have a question about GR8 SK8... what does it do?

Is that a Q-bot in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

It's hard to tell whether or not they are new, but like SteelMonsters pointed out, the front yellow shell is still there. I do remember that the press release mentioned that one of the trains would have this color scheme (candy-apple red with orange flames).

Granted, it was in the press release and everything, but why are they actually changing the paintjob? I could see something like this happening if maybe the existing paint was severely damaged, or if the fibreglass has some stress fractures or something, but with the limited information we've got, these two don't at all pop up. Even so, you'd think for consistency, they'd simply keep the same old paintjob, not go back to something that was said in a year-old release.

So what if the best coaster in Australia is a second hand Arrow?

That yellow train shell has been there sence before the ride even opened. If I recall correctly, it was damaged, and thus only has half of the flames on it. It was never used while the ride was open.

It was used for the pullthrough, and never since then. It has sat under the ride as theming since it opened. That is not the real yellow shell. I believe that they simply repainted the yellow train.
