Xcelerator manual restraint release

I was at KBF and the ops needed to let people out of a train when the ride went down for a bit. They brought over this thing that looked like a small generator with a tube on the end and unscrewed something behind the seats in each car and connected the tube to the car. Then after a second, the restraints could unlock.

What in the world was the thing?

The thing they use to unlock the seats, I'm sure it was constructed for that purpose.
It sounds like how MF's work, or any other intamins trains like that for that matter. What that "small generator with a tube on the end" does is, when thay unscrew the cap in the back and connect the tube to the car it sends and electric current through the train car by car. That current then activates the lap bar release.

Now exactly how it works I'm not sure but I think that is basically what happens.

It's more or less just a battery. When the train is in the station it makes a contact that allows for the bar to be released. The cars are all wired together in a chain, so the last car has an open terminal to connect to. It's pretty much standard issue with Intamin rides.

I got to see one up close when the chain broke on SFA's Superman and I had to walk down. Did I ever mention that?

Wow i didnt know that, it must have been exciting, you should tell us all about it :)
I also had the oportunity to see one up close but I was on MF and we had gone through the unloading station and were pretty close to hitting the train in the loading staion.
