Xcelerator

In this picture http://www.westcoaster.net/photo.php?img=040602/040602-kbf008-lrg.jpg it looks as though the track begins to bend backwards. Does this happen on the first tower? Also, it says that this picture was taken when the tower was at about 120 feet, how much taller will it get?

~Nick

It isn't bending backwards, its twisting to the right. The top height is around 200 ft. so I suppose it has another 80 feet to go or so.

If the shoe fits, find another one.

Oh yeah, doesn't that look great? The track will indeed twist over-the-top into the top hat element, and then twist again as it descends down into the bottom of the drop. The total height of the tower is 205ft.

Can someone else describe it more clearly...

The ride is supposed to be 205ft tall. My guess is that will be an overbanked turn.?.!
Basically, it will twist 90 degrees to the right, go over the hill, and the twist another 90 degrees going down, sending you in the opposite direction you launched.

this picture should make it slightly clearer what is gonna happen:

That ride looks awsome but really short.

under a minute long

I still can't get over how huge that thing is!!

Before you criticize someone walk a mile in their shoes, then you can criticize them and you have their shoes :)

Nick,

The reason why it looks like the track is bending backwards is because the center of rotation is slightly above the track, so it is like a heartline barrelroll only it is 1/4 of the twist and it goes vertical instead of horizontal ;)

And the best part is that it is only about half as tall as it will be when done right now. Its only 110 feet or so in those pictures.

And its over a minute long! Its 62 seconds. ;)

It seems like it would get through that thing in less than 62 seconds. I know that this is the time the ride will take, but it seems too long. I'm quite excited to ride.

Anyone have a ETA for its opening? I didn't see anything but "May" for a completion date on Knott's website. I'll be out in So Cal in business May 18-22 and would love to get in a couple laps.

Skittlebrau:

I am thinking late may, but probably a bit later than the dates you will be here. However, I'm just speculating, and maybe they will "soft open" it then...

And 62 seconds does seem very long for Xcelerator. Obviously that is correct, but I can't imagine how it could take that long!

Yes, the "Top Hat: is off the vertical by about 2 degrees.

Yes but that is the time it takes the train to exit the station, launch, go through the track, hit the brakes, and finally end up in the station.
