Look! It's snowing! Nah, I'm just being sarcastic :). Sweet photos. The fun has just really started. IMO, X will be ready in by or in August. DJV looks even better completed. Did you see the huge pulleys at the top the towers for towing up the cars? I wonder how it will work on the 2nd tower for catching the train after it's completed it's forward trip.

The ironic thing is, according to several sources, SFMM's coasters are right on schedule. May 25th for Deja Vu, and July ? for X. And yes, Deja Vu looks incredible! I can't believe I'll be riding this thing in two weeks.

Charles M Schulz(1922-2000) You were the best!
RIP
I was there yesterday myself. The station and walkways still need to be built for Deja-Vu, as that's a big mess right now.
They've also completed complete rehabs/ overhauls of Ninja, Psyclone, and Flashback, all of which are much smoother now (Psyclone reportedly at least) and much improved. There is also a brand new train on Gold Rusher. And supposedly Colossus is coming up due for a complete overhaul also- which is desparately needs!

Sir Willow:
Was Psyclone open when you were there? I was at the park last Sunday and the whole area w/ Deja and Psyclone was still closed off. Were you able to ride it, plus Ninja and Flashback?
Just curious....
This is a coaster that will be very exciting to watch as it grows, even if you (or more specifically me) have no plans in the near future to be out west.

No, I wasn't able to ride Psyclone- the whole area is still closed and the sidewalks are torn up for the construction. Word I received was from some employees in the guest relations office, emloyee's who obviously knew their coasters and were right on on Flashback. (Ninja I already knew)
They didn't know how well the rehab of Psyclone went either, but did know that much of it had seen extensive work, in a similar fashion as Ninja and Flashback. And since those two showed such a dramatic difference, the hope is that Psyclone will also.

Why have they waited so long to start building X? They`ll be lucky to have it completed by August!

Paramount`s Kings Island-something big is coming for 2002, the park`s 30th anniversary!
Maybe they don't want it open until August. Ever think about that? They didn't "wait" until now to build X, they never had *any* intention of building it any sooner. Unlike most enthusiasts, SFMM knows this coaster will be around for years, they don't have to follow some imaginary due date that they themselves have not committed to. I know everyone is excited to see this ride completed, but that has *ZERO* to do with SFMM and their own construction plans.

Well at least we're seeing them do positive rehabs on their other coasters (Ninja, Goldrusher, Psylone, Flashback). Maybe things will turn out better at the park after all. :)
Sorry guys, actually not quite right on the "wanting it to open in August". Plans are to have it open July 4th. And there is a good reason why they are behind schedule a bit: rain. We had 3 times the normal amount of rain back when they would have been preparing the ground for the footers. It pretty much wiped out any work they could have done for almost a month, and helped to set them behind. But I can tell you they sure have been pouring on the work recently!

hey does anyone know of any pics of the de javu trains? I heard they are supposed to be crazy looking!
Has anyone gotten a look at the Deja Vu lift system yet? Is it really going to use a cable or chain lift?

If I had to guess, I'd say maybe they only had one vertical construction crew (or set of cranes capable of reaching 200 ft) and simply waited until vertical on Deja Vu was done to start vertical on X. That would almost make actual sense. :)
And To Think, in 14 months I'll be riding these!!!

When I went on Tuesday, the large cranes weren't over by X yet. All they had was one small crane...

aren't they 2 different companies with two sets of their own damn cranes?
Also, maybe I couldn't tell from the pics on americacoasters but are those the vert towers I see in the back there? I realize the section isn't open to get the right angle but they kind of look like crane arms...I just can't tell.
Otherwise, yeah...that's amazing. I just came back from PGA on invertigo and face-off cars or no the size is hella impressive. I'll have to go on the one day a year it isn't HOT in Valencia.
I suspect that Deja Vu works like a standard Boomerang to raise the train, because the towers have dual tracks, presumably one being for some kind of lift carriage.
