X-Flight vertical construction begins (UPDATED)

Posted | Contributed by ShiveringTim

X-flight is taking flight with vertical construction beginning this past week. As of Friday, the structure for the lift and first inversion are in place, and most of the lift track is set. Check the photos.

UPDATE: Additional photos have been added detailing more progress.

Where can you get the track layout for the X flight. I have been looking all around and i couldn't find any.
Is it just me or do these Vekoma coasters seem like the Level 1 difficulty models. Its all snap together.;) Geez the lift in one day, its probably going to be ready for testing in mid-March.

Don't mess with the X in 01
Nice pics, going really fast. I would think they will most likely have this whole ride completely constructed by late march if this weather holds. But this also depends upon when they work.

Zepplinfan: check out thrillride or screamscape, they might have it.
Just look at the layout for Batwing, they are both exactly the same.

I wonder how much they have done, as of now?!

New pics from today are posted. They've finished the lift and started on the first turnover.

I was looking at the track plan for Batwing and I was wondering if X-Flight will have corkscrews or barrel rolls?
Great pics they seem to be working hard. It looks like it will all be ready for opening day.

SmArtAce, I could not find any pictures of the layout of X-Flight in either of those sights. If you find one insert a link to get to it.
It will be exact, that means the barrel rolls below the track and all.

To Go Full Force: Go to thrill ride, look at the new for 2001, and click on batwing. Its the exact same layout as x-flight. It shows a side view of the layout but its up in the air. Kind of like a football game camera view.
Is a bridge going to be built over Geauga Lake Rd, or will they have it moved by then?
Great pics, Scott! I especially love XFlight_lift_11.jpg. The beautiful blue sky peeking in from behind those dark clouds gives that turnover a pretty weird look.

i think its better that vekoma added the double station and the outside corkscrew its good to c that their learning from the prototype (too bad i live close to PGA so im stuck with the prototype)
Is it just me or does X-Flight look to be a lot shorter than 115ft? Maybe you have to be there to get the full effect, but it seems awfully low for the advertised height...

Trust me, it looks every bit of 115' when you're next to it :)

Don't forget that most of the other headline attractions in the front of the park are at least 130' tall.
I cant believe how quick they done all that, It must have happened overnight, however I was never worried that they wouldnt open it on time, and always had my trust in Vekoma and SFO.
I of course will be riding X-Flight on Monday 4th June and I am counting down those days with extreme excitment(I really cant wait:) )

Can someone confirm something for me, I heard X-Flight is being built next to SUE and The Boomerang Coaster, Is this true, the first thing I want to ride of course is X-Flight, so I want to know what way to go when I am in the park???

You'll pass it before you even walk in the park because it's in the front of the parking lot. Hang a right towards SUE and the Boomerang and you should get there.
