No no no... I'm not saying X is bad! I just had two ideas for a post that I decided to combine into one.
First: I'm curious... how many people on this list have gotten to ride X? Have there been any negative comments from anyone in the industry yet? 3 hour line sounds like it's doing really good, but any new coaster generally draws that crowd.
Second: So does anybody remember a NEW coaster opening that everyone hated? Or does it just gradually happen that people don't care much for a certain coaster as technology changes and new coasters are better than ever?
I can think of some newish coasters I don't care much for; but they are generally standard clones that lose their spice quite quickly. Boomerangs and Mind Erasers and such...

I loved Son of Beast. :(
I've been away from the coaster world for a while... focusing on school. How is SOB doing? Point me to a thread somewhere?
My SN is based on the fact that I play the sax.
Uno: I've ridden X, and it's the most *unique* ride I've experienced. I have no idea if there have been any negative industry reports, as I'm not really in the habit of chatting with amusement industry types on a daily basis. ;) I haven't read or seen any press for the ride that was overtly negative, and the reaction from park guests when I visited was 100% positive. Even with the 3 hour waits, people agreed that the experience was well worht it.
Dos: As Den pointed out, SOB got a bunch of negative press and bad reviews upon opening.

SOB - But when you go to SoCal, you're not just going for SFMM. You're going for Knott's (worth the trip by itslef), DL, DCA, and Adventure City (If you feel so inclined).
I'm already getting amped for my return in November, as I didn't have enough time to squeeze in DCA and DL in February.

My boyfriend is in the great state of California until June on co-op for school. I was hoping to get to some parks when I was out there seeing him.... but then I discovered how long Cali is! He's in Sacramento... which is 380some miles from SFMM.
I did get to visit though... and we went skiing at Lake Tahoe... which was incredible and made up for missing out on coasters.
Now I understand why everyone says Southern California.

X has got a few negative comments....Load times anywhere from 6-12 minutes....Slow lines (which there is no reason to complain about)
I think a lot of people thought Wicked Twister was going to be a failure, but once people have seen the finished structure they have changed their mind.
Well, here is the way I fell about it.
I LOVED Son of Beast, yet I HATED the trains. The ride is completely awesome and totally unique, and I have nothing bad to say about the ride itself. The trains are what ruined the experience for me. Seeing as how I am about 6'2", those handlebars on the front of the car, and the little platform you have to put your feet on really, really hurt; heck, I ended up with bruises on my knees!
I know that there is a solution for PKI to get a new type of trains for SOB, I know that some people like the trains, but the biggest complaint seems to be how people don't like the trains. Maybe PTC could manufacture new SOB trains. Pretty much ever coaster train maker and coaster company has the technology to make the trains that SOB requires. But hey! This is just my opinion :)

So what is better? SFMM or CP? I don't care! They both have 29 coasters between them that they build so we can have a good time!

I've traded in my 2000 Giovanola for a 2002 Arrow X4D :)
My other car is now an Arrow X4D!
X is my favorite ride at the moment, but my only complaint is that SFMM won't run it if there is any sort of rain at all. I went the last weekend in January and it only opened for about two hours. Right before we hopped into our seats, I saw that it was beginning to drizzle outside. I'm telling you, the whole station was silent. There were many prayers taking place at that moment :). Soon after, it was closed for the day.

Well, it's not raining in so cal from May-October, so that should not worry you anymore. Also, X ride dipatch time is nowere near 6-8 minutes, maybe that was the case in the first week @ the season pass preview. I went last week and they got a train running every 2 - 2 1/2 minutes. The reson the lines are so long is that X is just incredible and people want to ride it.
On the pro side with almost everyone locked up in either X or Deja Vu lined, the rest of the, do I mention , not to shabby World Class Coasters like Goliath, Batman, Riddler, Viper are either Walk on or less than 20-30 min waits!
