Does anyone know a history of this park? I have sketchy details... some of the rides used to be at Olentangy Park, bought by Premier Parks in '96. I wrote to the park to find out at least when the Sea Dragon coaster was built, but I just got the press pack. Unhelpful.
I believe Sea Dragon was built in '56, but I'm not sure. I went to Olentangy High School, I'm from the area, but as far as history, I'm not sure.

I asked the employees running the coaster when I was there on June 4, but none of them knew. I also noticed that the carousel horses and platform were missing. I found the animals restored behind some food stalls, but the rest of the ride is yet to be discovered!
The Sea dragon was built in 1956 with a lift hill of 35 feet. Constructed by John Allen the track lengh is 1320 feet.
Sorry I could'nt get back to you sooner but the server went down!
PS. the park also has some other great one-of-a-kind rides. Like the Barracuda (ferris wheel where you control position of the seat and can do 360 degree loops!) annd the monsoon,(spinning ride), crappy but ive never seen it anywhere else.
I live right in columbus and I will be going there June 9.

I've never seen anything similar to their Monsoon ride. On the cars it says "Frolic Ride". You spin this wheel in the middle of two-seater suspended cars to get spinning while all the cars spin around in a circular motion. If you spin that thing hard enough, you start to lean outwards. I love that ride!
I don't know if you have ever been to the park prior to June 4, but the barracuda was a ferris wheel, not a tilt-a-whirl. I asked a nice ride op why it was gone, she said it was dangerous and failed inspection. I also notice no sand dollar, and no Carousel. See trip report.

The Carousel at Wyandot lake was originally at Olentangy Park. It was moved to the Columbus Zoo after that park closed. It was later moved to Wyandot Lake. It is my understanding that the Carousel was removed from Wyandot this year to undergo restoration and will reappear at the Columbus Zoo. Wyandot is, supposedly, getting another Carousel from Mexico. Speaking of Wyandot, I am new to Columbus and have never been to Wyandot. I plan on being there on June 17 and am interested to know what rides they have. As is usual for six flags, the website is not very informative and all I really see advertised are the water rides. Also, I've had the feeling that the park is mostly a children's park would grown up adults un accompianed by children feel out of place?

We've just about listed all the rides already. There's the Sea Dragon, a ferris wheel(Eli-style), and a small wooded midway with four rides, a Scrambler(Neptune's Revenge), Frolic Ride(Monsoon), Tilt-A-Whirl(Barracuda), and Monster(Black Squid). There's also a bumper cars all by itself. The rest are kiddie rides and water slides, themed areas. Although I love the place, it can't brag in the way of thrills.
I came across a bit of history. It isn't hugely informative but it helps a little. What I would really like to find is a ride listing from over the years.
