wrong comparison for Darkastle

I think most members are missing the idea of Darkastle. It's probably more accurate to compare the new ride to Tower of Terror at DW, rather than comparing it to Spiderman at IOA. Both in the ride itself and especially the mood.
But Darkastle is not a drop ride, right? I'm not sure I see the similarity to ToT.

I thought it would have 3-D effects in a dark ride setting. Sounds more like Spiderman to me.

Insider's say that there will in fact be a drop. So 3-D effects, a spooky setting, a surprise drop...
how is that not similar to ToT?
It isn't a tower.
It's a several-story-high castle. The ride climbs throughout, then drops. You're in a sled instead of an elevator.
Wasn't the drop a simulated drop like on Spiderman at IOA?

Agreed.
Either way, it's going to rock.
Spidey-esque vehicles, Spidey-esque animations... I'll still compare it to Spiderman.
...and a Spidey-esque SIMULATED drop...it would be a lot better to compare this to "Dinosaur" at AK or "Indiana Jones" at DL than to compare this to ANY of the TOT rides...

If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.

Just because it's a "drop ride" inside a building doesn't mean it's like Tower of Terror. Would a Gravitron inside a building be like Mission: Space?
Hmmm... Guru, any more details on the drop? In the promo video there was a guy veiwing what appeared to be a 3d model of the ride, and it looked entirely flat. I'm a little but more intrigued if there is a physical dop aspect. I'll be surprised if so, though.

The building isn't tall enough for a drop. Look at the cars...they are the same as Spiderman. The drop is a simulation probably similar to the last scene in the Spiderman ride.
Why oh why won't my computer download quicktime. Can somebody sum up what's on this press download.
The news media reported a drop. I can't wait a spiderman style ride with a drop. Cool

Dan

Those expecting a "Tower of Terror" drop ride will be highly dissapointed. The 'drop' will be entirely simulated, just like the drop in Spiderman. Given it's similarities to Spiderman, it should make for one great ride experience regardless!

bowtobusch, its just a bunch of shots of the ride being painted, patched etc. It shows the cars and track etc. This is no drop ride if those are the cars.
The news media did report a drop, but they failed to put the word "simulated" in the sentence.
Look at it this way, the vehicles (which pics have confirmed is the Scoops of Spidy fame) have tons of electrical and mechanical devices that are quite sensitive, there is no way they are dropping those things 100+ times a day.

Not to say the sim. drop is bad, if you have ever been on Spidy you swear you dropped the first time you rode the ride (if you didnt know about the sim before hand). *** Edited 2/28/2005 6:43:07 PM UTC by Touchdown***
