Would CP demolish MS?

MS lines are usually short!?!?! I waited a whole freaking hour for the trip to hell and back a couple weekends ago! Oh well. I had to wait 1 hour and a half for the second worst woodie ever, surprisingly at another Cedar Fair park. Yes, the almighty Hercules. CF officially has the two worst and two(of the best) woodies. And the best ones weren't even CF decisions.

People don't dislike Mean Streak because it's at CP, it's because the ride just plain stinks for the most part. The trims on the first drop, the roughness of the ride, the lack of drops that extend to the ground all make for a seriously lackluster coaster. In it's favor though it has a running time of 2:54 and can run three trains at once. I don't see them removing it because besides being environmentally unfriendly it would cost a lot of money to tear down.
If they get a new coaster , Which i preach it to be a smooth woodie , Please Do not get rid of mean streak , it may have been a little mean these past months, but it's a classic and i would hate to see it go down

Blue Streak Laps : 490 ~~ 85 in one day
They WILL NOT get rid of Mean Streak...that would make no sense from a financinal point...

I'm sorry you waited an hour for Mean Streak...Koaster King...I haven't been to the park when it has been that busy in a while...but if you went on it, and did not like it...that's ok...shorter line for me ;)

I didn't want to start another thread, but along the same lines: think Dorney Park will remove/reprofile Hercules? It now crawls over the first drop due to severe braking (I think to slow it down some as it hits the first curve), yet by the time you are half way around that first curve your fillings have fallen out and your back is sore! And the rest of the ride does "nothing" for you (me). I rode it first in 1999 and it was rough. I rode it twice two weeks ago, still rough. No wonder the locals call it "Jerkules!" It's a Summers/Dinn and MS is a Summers...go figure. (I have not ridden MS).

Mother, did it need to be so high?
I think they should. If CP actually builds a world class wooden coaster from CCI (of course)next year, which one would you choose. I certainly would have no reason to ride Mean Streak anymore.

Dayuum, Your HOT!
We just got back from CP, and i can honestly say the only good thing that i can say about that coaster is that it is pretty to look at! We rode that coaster back when it openened and it was unbearably rough at that time. It is still very rough, and it is now VERY slow. There is a brake on the first hill, the second brake just about stops it.

One thing I also noticed on this trip is that the drops are very poorly designed for the size of the coaster. After the initial drop, there is one other sizeable drop and the others are mostly small drops built high up in the air. The end of the ride is like riding on a rough, hilly, train around curves, more than a rollercoaster. This is just not a good ride. Period.

All coasters need to look at the Intamin one piece method for future retracking if this method provides smoother riding.

As far at the Gemini suggestion, NO! The Gemini is one of the more fun coasters at CP, great hills, airtime, and the racing (which CP did a great job at on our visit) is what really makes the ride. But i feel this would be a better coaster with traditional (or Intamin) wood tracks than the Arrow mine train tracks.
Anybody ride MS a few years ago at Coastermania? it was fantastic, then, and that was only a while back. If you aren't a sissie, do yourself a favor and wait for a really good night ride on MS while everyone else is in line for maggie, and MF, and raptor. It picks up a lot of pace, and gets even rougher, which, in my mind, is a good thing.

i've rode mean streak yesterday and it was very smooth. i've also riden it all my life and i'll admit there was a couple of years which i came off and just because of that rough ride i had to sit down for at least an hour just to get my aches away.

but now to me it seems very smooth.

Welcome Force riders how was your ride??

Mean Streak is very smooth this year, the did a lot of work on the track in the off season. There are only three things they need to do to Mean Streak. First, fix the padding in the cars. Get rid of those awful hard foam seat backs and put something nice and soft in. Second, since the cars are fixed and people won't get bruised anymore, remove the first drop brake. Third, keep the track well lubricated so the cars don't make grooves in the steel. Do those things and you've got a very nice coaster.
They eventually will, just like eventually alot of the rides at the park will get replaced. i'm talking 50 years from now not just like 10
Why would they do that it is a great coaster it might be not as good as other other wooden coasters but this is a lot of fun and they should not destroy any coasters there they want to break the record next year.
olympic, be my guest to take my spot on Mean Streak. If you like this coaster, more power to you. I wish I liked it, but the roughness, lack of airtime, lack of...everything just makes this coaster stand out and live up to it's name. I really want it to be a good ride and I wish they would get Intamin to retrack it.

I rode MS 2000 season and i love looking at it from the Que line it was just asem looking in every way but it dosent live up to its look maybe back in the erlie 90s it did but there is alot of trims on parts of the ride that can be good. if they take them ou it would be a really really good ride and well worth any wait time. i personaly think the first drop is good untill you hit the bottom and go over that first turn. if that turn was full force no brakes it would asem. as for the ques for that ride thank god they wherent filled but i never seen any que that big in my life!
I totally loved meanstreak. I think it is a pretty decent woodie and I know that the gp are totally enthused about it. Plenty of people ride it so why would they remove something that helps take some of the crowd away. Even though some and most enthusiest like it, it is about what the gp likes.
They would not destroy a multimillion dollar ride just because some coaster enthusiest dislike it when they have several hundred thousand guest that ride it each year.
