Worst Experience at a park

By the way has anybody beaten the odds and actually rode every coaster in one day at Cedar Point? I have never been past the count of 7!

I went the Sunday before Hallow Weekends in 2003, and was shocked to find how dead it was in the park. I went on every coaster twice by 6:00pm, the only waits were TTD and MF and those were 15 min each, every other ride was a walk-on.

I didn't find Kennywood to be too bad on single riders. I managed to ride everything without a problem. On Thunderbolt they offered people on line a double ride if they would sit with a single rider. Although I can kind of understand why they wouldn't want single riders on Thunderbolt, it has fairly strong laterals.

Worst time at a park for me would have to be Saturdays at Cedar Point for Halloweekends. When Gemini has it's queue filled, then you know the park is full.

Back in August 2002, when the park had 15 coasters, I managed to hit 9 of them in 4 hours (between 6pm and 10pm). The next day we spent the full day at the park and I managed to hit all the coasters (including a couple of double lappers) within the time no problem.

When we got to the parking lot there, there were no cars in it. We got up to the gate and when we got there said they were closed for construction.

Are you sure you weren't at Wally World?;)
(Someone had to say it!)

That's great. This was back in the days of the seventh grade and I think I was too stupid to know something was up then. Oh well, I am pretty sure that the varsity wrestling coach, who is an ex-sniper in the Marines let them have it. Cool guy when he is not enraged by pure stupidity though.

I have never had any trouble getting on all the non kiddie coasters in one day. That includes, ccmr and disaster transport.

I WAS one of the ones who waited close to four hours for Mean Streak in it's first season however. :(

My worst experience at a park was at sfgadv this past year. The inmates ran the asylum, there was no authority anywhere. Adults were blatently line jumping, arguing with ride ops about fast lane and having to wear shirts on rides. Shoes and bags were thrown all over every coaster's platform so you couldnt walk two feet without stepping over something. Terrible. Will take something incredible to ever get me to go out of my way to visit again.

Batwing at SFA shook my keys out of my pocket. When I flew back home, it cost me 200 bucks to have my car and house keys made on site.
Back when SFA was Adventure World, they had some shuttle looper. I don't recall the name, but I remember that I got a terrible whip lash on it. I went to the first aid place and they gave me a tylonal. I am so diehard at parks and did not want to give up, but I went on a flat and it hurt so bad, I did not ride anymore.
Let me add another.

Don't you hate it when every time you plan to go to a park, you discover that you can't. It seems to happen to me a lot, and I am really getting sick and tired of it.

Today I found out that I will not be able to afford to go to CP and PKI with my friends in a few weeks. I work my but off 40 hours a week, and donate blood for extra cash. I do not go to bars or spend my money on drugs. My bills take up about half of my wages.

Something ALWAYS comes up that prevents me from going on a planed park trip. The only park that I visited last year was Dorney for one day. The year before that was Hershey for one day. The year before that was Kennywood and Hershey for one day each. I have been thinking that it was all about to change, and i would get to go to more parks a little more often but this year is starting out the same way the last three have.

How does one prevent being financially enslaved?

(1) Cedar Point 1977 - Oldest sister taking us to CP and car almost broke down going up there...she locked the keys in the car TWICE! that day!

(2) Cedar Point 1983 - All it did was rain in Sandusky, and upon leaving the park around 7pm, I looked into the dark blue/gray sky, only to see a funnel cloud form into a waterspout as we were driving away from the park...scariest feeling I've ever had at a park! around 20 months later, our area was hit by multiple tornadoes in one dreary day in late May 1985.

(3) SFWoA 2001 - went into The Wave pool, put wallet in ziplok bag, and didn't know the strength of the waves...lost my wallet, it was found, but someone took ALL of our money! I learned my lesson....get swimtrunks or boardshorts with nylon zippers!

my worst day at a park was also one of my best days at a park ever.

i live in melbourne australia .in 1998 i came to the states & visited some fine parks. They were CP WDW DL USH & SFMM

anyhow in 2002 magic mountain made it too irresistable to not return with additions of goliath deja vu & the ride i wanted to ride most X.we arrived may 8 at 730am at the gate.thats how excited we were to be going on X.We watched x go round the track many times until finally after parking ,pass photos etc we were first in and first in line for X.and finally yes we got to ride X. i loved it, but immediately after riding it we went down to goliath as we heard there was no queue on any other ride but X.

After riding goliath we returned to find X closed, which it was all day. and both other days we visited in the next week (at 730am still!!)

my trip to ride X had been ruined bar for the fact that six flags has other top rides i would hate that park for that .i had an awesome time all 3 days i visited but 2 years later i am heading back to ride X.An awesome unique coaster........it better be working!!!!!

ps just how bad are parks on weekends in mid summer compared to weekdays midsummer (will be in FL,LA,OH - july 24 - aug 18 )

My worst expierence at a park was @ PCW, everyone of the ride ops smelled really bad, and the wooden coasters felt like they haven't been retracked in ages.

Also people were smoking in line, it was simply a horrific expierence. *** Edited 4/27/2004 12:34:47 PM UTC by darienlakefan***

Your Park only has 1 good coaster! That's too bad!
To be honest, I've never had any really really bad experiences at parks, however if I have to say something, it would be SFWOA when I went in June 2001 I'm afriad, Well where do I start

1. Only half of ticket windows open and long queues at the ones that were open, people complained but they never bothered to open more.

2. One(YES ONE) Turnstyle open to get in, this was disgraceful as there was a huge scramble to get in, and it was only when the members of the public physiclly threatened the staff with abuse to to get more gate open when they finally did.

3. No Crowd Control around to the entrance to X-Flight, everyone went to this ride first because it was new and there was loads of pushing and shoving from people to get to the line quicker, I actually feared for people's lives because I was so worried people were going to get crushed.

4. Some Food Places were closed for no reason, and the ones that were open had big queues, to make matters worse, The staff were very slow and the girl on the till in the food place I ate it didnt have a clue how to operate it as she kept having to call a supervisor, It took us 30 mins to get food when it should have taken half that.

5. I'm not sure how, but the park ran out of Ice Cream at one stall even though the weather was 80 degrees(Thats not very well prepared) and was told to go to another place for Ice cream which had a big queue.

6. Standard 1 train operation on many coasters despite it being a nice day and it being a busy Saturday, 1 Train on X-Flight,Double Loop and Raging Wolf Bobs which means long queues on these all day, could understand it if the park was quiet, but it was was'nt, it was very busy all day

7. Very strange and bizarre rule on the Log Flume where they wont let you ride on your own(They must be the only park I know with such a bizarre rule) I queued up not knowing it, and was told in the station, thankfully I only waited 10 mins when I did queue up and was'nt too bothered in the end(I only wanted to ride it cause of the nice weather) but if I had queued up longer, I would have given them a piece of my mind, Its Still a stupid rule though.

8. Also asked a member of staff how to get to the Rapids Entrance and he looked at me a bit puzzled and clearly said "We Dont have a Rapids Ride" I then had to show him a map showing that they did, and then he suddenly realised they did have such a ride, but didnt know how to get to the entrance, A New worker maybe, but how dumb can you get.

So thats it basiclly I was hughly disapointed visiting this park, the way the whole park was being run was disgraceful and nothing really impressed me, I was actually quite despressed walking round and just wished I was back in Cedar Point where I was a few days before that having the time of my life(Such a different class to Six flags Parks)

The only good thing I could say about the park was the staff on Batman Knight Flight, they were absolutly superb and running a 3 train operation with little stacking. They absolutly worked their socks off, and what really seemed like a 1hr queue was only 20-30 mins, I was highly impressed with them, but its a shame the rest of the park let these people down. These staff should have been a shining example to all the other people working in the park, Oh Well.

Also I'm glad CF have brought this park, because after that SFWOA trip, I vowed never to return because I hated it soo much, Now at least if I should ever return to Ohio, I can return in the knowledge it will be a much better pleasent experience.

I went to SFGADV once and these douche bags in the front seat of Nitro would spit on the drops and it would fly back and hit everyone. I confronted them after wards there was 3 of them and they sweared isn't want them. I followed the around for a bit but then went to ride The Chiller. It kind of ruined my day.

Anther time I went to SFDL and I was just so let down by the park in general I almost cried.

I went to PKI on a Saturday Evening in August the park was so crowded and trash was every where. I was very disappointed. The next day I went back and it was like a whole new park.

Thanks,
DMC

Well I say wait till they open before we jump the gun saying it will be a huge improvement. I think many people will be dissapointed the first half of this season...But what can you do?

Kyle Says: Diamondback was a lot of fun! Made his first time at Kings Island worth it all!

For some reason it never fails to rain on a day whe I've got a trip planned.

Opening weekend was overcast most of the day & chilly & wouldn't you just know it they're calling for thunderstorms in the afternoon come saturday...man I just can't seem to win this season.

Past misfourtunes in clude going to PKD back in the 80's & someone locked the keys in the trunk....we were the very last car out of the lot that evening & back in 01 a breakdown on I-66 right at the centereville exit when making the drive to SFA for the first run of the season.

BTW the old shuttle you're reffering to at SFA was Python & yes it was a bit on the rough side but what can you expect from a used Arrow shuttle looper that was originally at SFGRADV from 1978 to 1993?

Since PaulD mentioned long waits for food, I have remembered two food horror stories. One time at BGW I waited in an hour line for ice cream. The line didn't have many people in it, but the service was horribly slow. Also, I had to wait in a really long line for lunch at SFNE. It was the second longest wait of the day (only S:RoS was longer).
