From the release:
Worlds of Fun is pleased to announce it will be adding two new unique and thrilling rides in 2017, as well as a completely redesigned front gate to enhance the guest experience next season.
- Mustang Runner – Three arms with seven gondolas per arm turn one way while the base of the ride spins the other way.
- Falcon’s Flight – A hair-raising thrill at nearly 100 feet above the ground. This ride spins and rises at the same time with more than 50 riders at a time.
“We couldn’t be more pleased to add two new rides for guests to enjoy. These classic amusement park rides will add thrills unlike anything in the Midwest.” said Worlds of Fun General Manager, Frank Wilburn.
But that's not all. Families will be able to ring in the holidays next season and enjoy what is sure to be a new family tradition. WinterFest is coming to Worlds of Fun, showcasing 14 favorite holiday characters, spectacular light displays, ice skating, and festive live entertainment. The park will be transformed into a winter wonderland for six weeks beginning November 24, 2017.

I think the current gate *was* a kind of afterthought, or at least it was originally a secondary gate. I had remembered that when I visited (at least 20 years ago), you entered the park by crossing a riverboat of some kind - and when I looked at the current map, I couldn't figure it out at all - the park wasn't arranged at all the way I remembered it.
Then I realized that they must have moved the entrance, and I looked at an old map. Sure enough, there's the riverboat, and another entrance which now appears to be gone. It looks like the original main gate was roughly where the windseeker ride is today.
^^ You're right. The bridges are still there too: https://goo.gl/maps/ymHDkZ1FV962
The current main gate was originally a secondary entrance, I believe. And looks like it.
Weird because Hersheypark park is scrapping their condor because of maintenance cost, but cedar fair is installing one because of its rarity, and it's only rare because of its maintenance costs. I like the addition, but I really don't see this thing lasting more than a few years, for the same reason hershey's ditching theirs. I'm surprised Great Escape can still afford the one they have.
"The term is 'amusement park.' An old Earth name for a place where people could go to see and do all sorts of fascinating things." -Spock, Stardate 3025
