Worlds of Adventure proposes new animal attractions

Posted | Contributed by Jacob

The Plain Dealer reports that Six Flags has proposed a new animal adventure for Worlds of Adventure. Park officials have stated that the obstacles presented by the Aurora Planning Commission have made it "unlikely" that a new coaster will come to the park in 2002.

I think animal attractions are not the way to go. Cleveland is in a market where you have a world-class zoo that's only $8 to get in, and that includes the very nifty rainforest. Are people going to go in droves to Six Flags to see animals? I think not.

(If you like zoos and happen to visit Cleveland, it's worth your time to stop at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. I try to check out zoos in every city I visit, and it amazes me how good the Cleveland zoo really is compared to others.)

Well,  what should they do?  They probably aren't going to build a new coaster, so why not expand the wildlife side?  Fixing the operations of the park would be nice, but what are the chances of that?  Just my two cents.

I must say that I'm not too dissapointed.  This park has put in a whole lot of world-class attractions in the past few years.  I would love to see a hyper, I'd love to see a 4-D, but they need to work on what they have for now.

The one place that I think they lack is still in their selection of non-coaster rides.  I really think that a Frisbee, or an Intamin Giant Drop, or something like that would be a welcome addition to 6FGL.

It seems hard to imagine why people would pay Six Flags for animals when the Cleveland Zoo is right there (if you like Zoos it is worth the trip up from Columbus). But on the other hand by the time SFWOA does their usual marketing job and shows footage of a thousand zebras storming across a few hundred acres of African plains, there will be folks who believe it and head for Geauga.
They would add it because instead of having to go to a few diff. places, a whole family can go here and get to see all kinds of attractions that appeal to everyone.

If I had a family, and I had to choose SFWoA or CP, I would choose SF because they have other things besides rides. I think it's a great addition, and I am gonna love SF even more now that they will have my favorite animals, tigers!

I hope this brings SF into themeing the park alot more too.:)

i feel that any move right now is good for SFWoA.

Everything they've done is great, now if they only removed MIND ERASER and SERIAL THRILLER to put in Quality rides, then that'll be good, but what they should concentrate more on is building up the Sea WOrld side w/ some kiddie rides that are themed to sea animals.... and other animals... plus i think the best spot for a HYPER would be by the trail from WILD LIFE to WILD RIDES side near RAGIN WOLF bobs... if they started it out on the wild life side, ti would bring mroe people over... they also need more flat rides by the old pirate ship and scrambler...

keep at it SFWoA!

sounds great! i can't wait to go!

Best woodie: The Beast
Best steel: MF
Best park: IOA! Get to the point... cedar point!
I think Sixflags Worlds of Adventure should have built a hyper coaster last year instead of x-flight. Now I think we are due for a giga coaster to compete with cedar point. *** This post was edited by SixflagsWoA on 9/9/2001. ***

I'm going to be fearing for my life next year at SFWOA. The way they run things...Lions, Tigers, and Bears Ohh my!

I agree I've been to cleveland 3 times and that zoo rocks, not as good as the San Diego Zoo, butgood nonetheless, I poor move on Six Flags part. I wonder what the marketing scheme will be though, should be quite entertaining.
I welcome this new addition to SFWoA. After five new coasters and two flat rides in the past two years, I think it's time for SF to focus on other attractions that offer a wider appeal to guests.

Kids love animals (you should see them at the All Star Pets show) and I know kids will love this attraction too.

I believe that adding to the Wildlife part of it is good. I know about the zoo competition, but there needs to be a little more than just the marine part of it at the park. If they could concentrate on more shows, it would be less zoo-like.
well when i went there this year i wasn't impressed with the wildlife part, they didn't have a whole lot, of course sinse i had been to sea world there i was comparing it to it.

I think it's a great idea.:)

Instead of driving to Toledo to visit a world class zoo the locals will be able to just go to SFWoA.

It sounds like their still keeping the hyper coaster idea for the one area and I think it'd be great if they added the animal attractions and the hyper coaster. Now if only they add the dark ride and extended monorail. ..
