Worlds of Adventure expanding their parking lot?

I recently took a ride down to Six Flags to check out what's going on with construction and what not. It seems that they are expanding their parking lot for the 2002 season. 2nd picture on this page is what I'm talking about.

What do you think?

Parking lot? How about improving the way people reach the lot? How many times has 43 been jam packed in the morning? Six flags has to work with the city and find a way to improve the traffic situation.

Some credit is due though, compared to the old Geauga Lake days the situation, has improved, but not to the extent needed. Coming from 422 isn't to much of an issue, but coming from the Turnpike, 82, or and road in the south for that matter is a nightmare.

They also need a way to inform people coming from the south that the first entrance to Six Flags is for the wild side, and that they're in for a marathon if they wanna be the first in line for say X-flight. I have heard numerous stories of people not noing which side of the park they entered (just wait by the exit and chat with security, they'll tell you all the bright people they have meet)

Oh ya congrats on the lot Six Flags ;)

CoasterMan-

SFWoA is improving the way traffic flows into SFWoA this year that is part of their capital improvement along working with the city this year. They are expanding the lanes all along the road coming from 82 and making the traffic light system even better. From what the engineers wrote in the Beacon Jounal earlier this sounds like a MAJOR thing SFWoA really needed. I guess it should also not be a problem trying to pull out of SFWoA on the Wild Rides side anymore. The paper said this project will be a year and half project with the widening starting first. This is also being done in cooperation with the new mall. Oh and there's also plans to landscape and put trees all along this new road system.

I wouldn't complain. Have you ever taken the journey from Libertyland or Lake Compounces' parking lot to the actual park? Keep Walkin'

RCG- do you know what they're doing to Route 43? (the road that runs right past the park?)

What about that? Are they adding another lane or what? :)

I think they are adding a turning lane for local residents to get off of the ill-fated Route 43 as soon as possible.

Adding a lane in front of the park doesn't do anything. The improvements that need to be made are bigger than the park. They would have to involve large four-lane roads to move people in and out of that area to the major roads, and that's not something the park will ever do.

My opinion is they need to impose a higher admission tax, or better yet a flat per-car tax, with those dollars exclusively earmakred for improvements. It'd have to be a joint tax of course so both the township and Aurora can collect.
