World of Coasters returns

Take a look...

It's still in a really rough form, but now that Jim has all the content back things are looking good for its ultimate complete return.

It looks like it's coming along rather well. Finally another fine coaster site makes it's comeback.
Thats cool. I hope they get back the rating system. Even though it had no real meaning, I loved it.

I'm already signed up for it! ;) This will be another great coaster fan site like coasterbuzz! :)

Now, while this may be a little off topic, what I'm really looking forward to is the return of ThrillRide.  Geez I miss those Wild Rumors/Random Notes.  Hopefully in another month or two we'll know what's really going on over there...

I'd Rather Be Riding Roller Coasters

go search on amazon.com for coaster books and you'll see whats goin on over there. It coincides with a certain book release....

and im havin fun with some of these abbreviations that i had forgotten. some of them just sound weird. Like this one TISM:ahotrc----so tism you really are a hot rc? cool ;)

World of Coasters was the first coaster sight that I found on line.  I liked their "Where to Coast" listing and the coaster reviews and park reviews that went along with it.  They just seemed to be more objective and more well written (and more mature) than those found other places (not simply "Oh yeah? Well, [insert coaster name here] rocks, dude, 'cause it is at my home park." or "[insert coaster name here] is the greatest coaster ever created, and [insert coaster name here] s****").

Other sites (including CoasterBuzz) are good for forums and discussions, and RCDB is good for stats and lists... but World of Coasters and its "Where to Coast" always was my favorite for a coaster list / reviews.

SLFAKE, also my first coaster site, feel kinda nostalgic about it.  I actaully LIKED the rating system, not always "accurate" as opinions vary WIDELY...(mine seems to be a "statistical outlier" most of the time, LOL).   My personal rating system works similarly - except I deduct points for "excessive wait times"...

I completely agree with everything you said. World of Coasters was the first site I found, simply from typing in rollercoaster.com and seeing what came up. The park and ride reviews were extensive and well written. I did treat them as the authority.

I'm sure that one reason the WoC was the first site found by many people was, well, because WoC was the first coaster-related site on the web.  For what it's worth, the WoC's original discussion forum (Coaster-Talk) which is, to my knowledge, the oldest private coaster discussion forum is still going strong, though we relocated to Yahoo groups after Coker bought the WoC.  We're attempting to preserve some of what made the WoC great (the reviews, for instance) by archiving them on our Geocities site.  Although it looks like Jim may be bringing back the reviews anyway.

Edit: For clarification purposes...most of the reviews that have been archived on our Geocities site are not the original ones from the WoC; Jim still owns the rights to those.  And I forgot to list the address (though note that only a small portion of the reviews are linked to at this time): http://www.geocities.com/RollerCoasterTalk

WOC was the first site I came across, probably five or so years ago!

It was a great site, but at some point it was neglected and didn't receive any updated info or reviews.  I think that the updates stopped around 1998, then the site basically became an archive or sorts.

It would be great to see the site return in an updated form, although with sites like Coasterbuzz, Screamscape and Ultimate Roller Coaster, I'm not sure what it would offer that other sites already do.

Bob is releasing his new book. Click Resume at www.ridewarrior.com and look under his writings.
