The simple fact is access to the ride hazard area must be limited while the ride is in motion. I don't know if things were set up improperly, if the victem ignored procedures, or if he jumped barriers. In any case there was a major failure of safe operating procedures. If another ride was nearby, the most elementary safety procedures would require a fence between them. *** This post was edited by Jim Fisher on 10/27/2002. ***
Boy it sure seems like there have been a lot of fair related accidents this year. Have I just missed hearing about accidents the last few years or were there a lot more this year? It sounds like this tragic accident was due to a poor decision made by the ride op but others this year were caused by ride malfuntions or defects. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
