Word on East River Crawler at SFGAm

Whats the word on East River Crawler? Do you think it will go to a different spot in the park?

I have added "SFGAm" to your topic title because people that havent been to this park before are not going to have a clue what you are talking about.

To answer your question, nobody really knows. I for one hope it stays. Its a great flat.

It would be a shame for them to lose ERC,it's a great ride and we have one at SFA known as Octopus.
Yup, seems like we will have to wait until next year to see where the ole Crawler ends up...I'm sure they won't be re-installing it anywhere until the new coaster is in place (and that obviously will not happen until next season).

I'd have to say that it IS the most popular flat at the park.....though there are a few other solid "classic" flats that are not to be overlooked!

Here's a pic I took a couple of weeks back.....at least we know WHERE it is (parking lot).

Also, not to go off on a tangent in the Crawler thread...but, I will. Why in the heck do you think SF is hanging on to the Sky Whirl baskets anyways? I can't imagine what other use they would have at this point other than scrap metal. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy knowing that the Sky Whirl is "still alive", but seeing as though the rest of the ride is gone I just don't understand why they still have all the baskets lined up out in the parking lot...oh, that's right, just to taunt me (and SkyWhirlGuy ). And, I guess, there is no "real" reason to be hanging on to Power Dive anymore either...maybe they are just waiting for the highest bidder. ;)

If you go on the train you can see the lobster ball thing actually sitting out in the open off to the left right as you pull out of county fair station.

MrSkyWhirl. Here are my thoughts as to why the cages are still sitting in the employee lot.

1. They have plans to use them in some type of theming although I really believe that will not happen.

2. Even though 3-arm ferris wheels are now a thing of the past, I am sure these cages can be used for the 2-arm wheels which there are actually quite a few of them still in operation. Maybe they are waiting or have a promise of purchase from parks which have the 2-arm.

Once again, just a thought.

Good thinkin' Lincoln...I mean Chitown!

Definite possibilities for sure, I just wonder if they actually would go thru the trouble of installing a two-armed version at some point? Are they a "lot less" work to maintain than was the trademark three-armed was? Maybe they are, I'm not sure.
(EDIT: Scratch that, I just reread your post where you said that perhaps other parks "promised" to purchase their baskets as replacements...not SF possibly putting up a two-armed version)

Also, I too was thinking that they might have "other" plans for the cages ... I just could not come up with a possible scenario where they would be able to make use of them.

In any case, I am sure they must have some hope they will be able to use them...otherwise they wouldn't be hangin' on to them. Ah, wait, I got it...in this parenting-age of using "timeouts" to discipline kids, perhaps SF was going to theme a new Bugs Bunny Timeout area and have the cages act as the timeout zones? Yah, that's probably it.

Well, Maintanace is always a possibility for East River Crawler. I have a strong feeling that its nothing more than that.

Never Has Gravity Been So Uplifting.

With the removal of Power Dive, Cajun Cliffhanger and now ERC, they do seem to be clearing a footprint for perhaps something large between Yankee Harbor and Orleans Place. Is Superman definitely going where Shockwave was? Or could they be planning for something further out?

I really can't see a coaster stretching from Power Dive over to the East River Crawler, there's the bridge as wall as Batman. I'm sure it could be done it just doesn't seem realistic. With the new area from Power Dive to the Cliffhanger Tidal Wave might just be making a come back, atleast I hope.

Keep on dreaming about Tidal Wave coiming back there is about a 2% chance of that happening

They should put all of those rides in an are next to American eagal where al those stupid games are now.

Holy... dumb.... grammar...

OK heres the lowdown on Crawler. It had a bunch of problems in August. So rather than fix the major problems and have it open in time for the last 3 weekends of FF, they just kept it down for the rest of the season. Maintenance has other things to do.

ERC was scheduled for its major overhaul this winter anyways, so it will be back.

I just love it when people post "FACTS" without any proof, names, etc to back it up! As if we should blindly trust...

I've got one!

I have it on good authority that SFGAm will be putting in a 70 foot Intamin Rocket in the place of ERC, that will have the downward part of the top-hat lock in with the spiral side of V2, and actually have a second tophat, after the one second holding break, of course on V2 and then take a spin through Batman!

Come on...
