Woodie stations

I am constructing a model for a cadd fair in michigan and I am drawing a blank litterally on a station platform.

I was wondering if anyone had a for or against comments towards a traditional all wood (no paint) or a more modern station like the raven; house like.

You may want to think about maybe an art deco look to the station, I have always thought they were pretty cool looking.

I say go with the Legend station, spare the chickenwire. :-) Is the rest of the coaster going to be painted? I'd think that whatever you do to the track, you should do to the station, but that's just my opinion. I'd love to see pictures when you are done with your model.

The original Beast station and turnaround was built over a remnant of Brady Lake and had water gushing out of a fake entry to the Beast's mine shaft. Also, the water troughs on the front of the building were in working order.

Just don't include the spit eating carp in your pictures.

If you want a truly beautiful station look at the station for Lightning Racers at Hershey Park. Not the best photo.

I am partial to art deco stations also though.

Here is a cool looking art deco style station:

I have already hit rcdb looking at what station pictures I could find, they were mostly of the trains logically.

I will be glad to post pictures but not untill after may when the fair is; I dont want any extra information given to my competition, sorry.

even though it is not a woodie, the best station house of all time would have to be Wildfire at SDC.
I don't plan on painting any of the coaster, except for maybe the queue or scenery. It is a bit of a twister/figure eight with what should be plenty of airtime.
The Beast's station takes the cake...and runs with it.

Why not go for that Contemporary look? -Design the station like Cedar Point's Corkskrew or Gemini. Hey, they may not be wood, but their train loading facilities are nice.

Take a look at The Racer's restored station at Kennywood. It has a clean look, hints vaguely at Early But Looking To The Future Coaster Chic, and would be easy to emulate.

I've seen most of the major coasters, and they tend to be at odd angles to the midway, hidden back behind other rides or along hillsides, or are squeezed so you can't get enough distance. The Racer entry is wide, looks out over that lake so you can see it from adequate perspective as you walk along the shore toward it, and has the running lights, the colors, and all the trimmings.

Hard to tell exactly what image you're seeking, but I'd at least check out the Racer Photos at Kennywood Boulevard.com.

Right now I am leaning toward a meanstreak station configuration with the transfer track just after the load, unload area. That way everything is under one roof and will conviently take up some dead space.

Thanks for all the coments and ideas this far.

If you really want to go for realism, make the floor on a slight slope with the track--back in the day, woddies didn't use feed motors, ya know... just plain ol' gravity.

Is that a Q-bot in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?
