Wooden Corkscrew thoughts.

SOB Is popular with the people. In that respect it is very successful.

So does this bring up the arguement that "we" are too critical when it comes to coasters. Cause it seems to be a hit w/ the general public. Im looking foward to riding this coaster.

Just like when BORG came to carowinds. I just ignored what everyone said and rode the ride w/ a clean slate. And i must say i enjoyed it. Now after 13 rides in a row it can make one a little woosey!!

I see everyone saying on here how deadly the coaster, SOB, is but how many law suits have been filed because of roughness of the coaster?? How many of you guys who say the coaster is a killer complained to the park officals??

Personally i like a rough ride every once and a while just as i like a smooth one. Heck i just like coasters period!! And that my friend is why im here..............

Just look at my signature lol lol

Um....who ever said that? Plenty of people say they don't care for Stealth/Borg, but who ever said it was dangerous?

Real Cbuzz quote of the day - "The classes i take in collage are so mor adcanced then u could imagen. Dont talk about my emglihs" - Adamforce
I was shifting gears back to SOB, context clues.........context clues.........

There are no bad coasters, only better coasters!!

T'-t'-t me...w-w-w-wood should stick with the ups and downs. N-n-n-n-no loops. An occassional helix, p-p-p-perhapsssssth.

What!? (to coin a phrase :) )

The real question there is:

"Are any of you pompous enough to b*tch directly to the park because you didn't like a ride"?

If I was in customer service at PKI and someone complained that they didn't like a ride, I'd probably punch them directly in the face and inform them that there's 11 other coasters to choose from and it just may be time to get the hell over it.

I can't even begin to imagine if people complained to the park about every ride they didn't like. The very concept is absurd.

The naysayers here are simply discussing why they like (or in most cases dislike) SOB which relates to the topic of woodies with inversions. Why would anyone 'complain to park officials' about SOB? What is that supposed to accomplish?

Actually, I don't think he meant that people should complain to the park just because you didn't like the ride, but rather because the ride was painful. That happens all the time, I believe...Drachen Fire, for example.
WOAH! If I ever own a park I want you to be in charge of the customer service department, Gonch. If I ever saw that I probably would never stop laughing!

I bet you have one of those Complaint Department Gernades on your desk. :) *** Edited 4/9/2004 5:56:13 PM UTC by coasterpunk***

I have a low tolerance for annoyance, coasterpunk :)

Go check the old news item about the kids getting SFGAdv to pull the pacifiers from the park gift shops for more "Gonchar: PR Terror" goodness.

OK, I see that point Vater, but still, I doubt PKI doesn't realize it's somewhat of a problem. I think sometimes on these forums we act as if the people running the parks are oblivious to what's actually going down with the rides there.

All the usual offenders - Mean Streak, Hercules, Viper (SFGAdv), even SOB - the park folks know these rides have the reputation they do. They're not clueless morons hiding under their desks. As long as people ride and it stays financially viable to keep a ride around, then it stays. Otheriwse you get a Hercules situation and the problem gets rectified.

The PKI folks know what kind of ride SOB gives. Everybody (or anybody) going to inform them of how rough or painfultheir ride was isn't going to change a thing. They do what they can to provide the best experience. It's not like they purposely make it rough and wait by the exit laughing at all the wincing guests.

Agreed, Gonch. I was just clarifying...although I very much like your customer service attitude. I don't think you'd keep a job for very long, but it'd be worth getting fired to be able to do that, even just once. :)
If he worked at my park he'd get a bonus. Needless to say after the 2 or 3rd lawsuit my park would probably be closed for good or at least the Guest Relations! But Then again he could always get a job at Bucketheadland. I would hate to work directly with people mainly in customer service like help tech lines and in the food industry.

That was a pretty good rant as well, Gonch! I think Jeff should appoint you in charge of all the Suggestions Forum. I think I know where you would tell everyone to stick them! :)

Jomo, we see how many supports are needed for a normal woodie, now think about the stress there would be if it was launched. Also, the track would have to be perfectly smooth to do something like that. I think that kind of wishing is a little bit over the top. I think that a vertical drop would be a little bit more feasible.

We also have to remember that some of the first coasters (that were wood) had vertical loops and they were complete failures.

Also, do you think that if SOB had the track/elements of a woodie like ghost rider and contained the loop, would it be a better coaster?

I think that a corkscrew on a woodie would be pretty feasible as long as it wasn't taken at high speeds.

wooden corkscrews? One word: impractical. Why try to reinvent the wheel?

Ha! Thatnks for digging that up. I was being lazy. And look at that, I used "WHAT!?" way before Moosh made it so fashionable ;)

I think I also had some good rants in the "smokers at parks" thread from last August and a while back (debating with Jeff even!) over drugs and drug use in a "beer at parks" thread.

Two things I can go off about - stupidity and drugs :)

I'll accept that position at your park if you ever open it, however, Buckethead gives me nightmares.

Buckethead maybe creepy but he can sure play a mean guitar!
