Wood; the natrual coaster. Steel; the synthedic co

Wood a good rougher ride with air time.
Steel a smoother ride with the ability to go upside down.

But wait...... there, there somthing that combines both! Wow could this be possible! How do you get a wood coaster with a loop. How can Son of Beast be able to exist. Well long long ago there was a wooden coaster that was long high and fast with air time after air time. Beast was the number on wooden coaster at it pinnacle of youth, but then people stopped loving Beast as mush as they did. They needed to be entertianed with a younger Beast that could draw the puplic. Well PKI just got a Mrs. Beast and Son of Beast was born. Breaking all wooden coaster recordes accept for one, length; which Beast still holds,. It was the first hyper coaster made of wood, the fastest wooden coaster at 79 m.p.h., and it had a loop! Now I think that is the Son of Beast extra, but...
Wooden coasters are made for air time and tight turns. If you want a loop you should have to ride a steel coaster. I think the loop in SOB takes away from the good o'l traadition of woodies that was just fine with out loops. I think SOB is just not right. Because in the future wooden coasters will have the inversoins of steel and then, what would be the point of haveing steel verses wood. There would be diversity in coasters any more.

There's as many types of woodies as there are steelies IMO. Sure, you've got your traditional out-and-backs, but you've also got twisters, terrain-type layouts, O-n-B/twister combos like Ghostrider, etc. Also, don't forget that the LOOP is still steel, even if the running track is wooden.

What in the $%&# are you talking about? Mrs. Beast? Are you taking a stand against wooden coasters, steel coasters, or coasters that have characteristics of both? What about the idea of a steel coaster WITHOUT loops? DO you have your drawers in a bunch about that too? If so, then you might have a problem with, oh lets see, about 3000+ members of this board who love Millenium Force...

I rode "X" and never went upside down.
When will people reliaze that SoB's loop is not steel! The only steel thing bout it is the support and the ties that is it. Nothing else! Until PKI changes the track on the loop to a steel track, then and only then will it be considered a steel loop!
LOL! When will we see Daughter and Wife of Beast? LOL

my opinion , i think wodden coasters are nothing, i would take a steel any day over a woodie.but now that the SOB has come out with a loop, it might draw my attention to the new types of woodies.

We all know it runs on wooden track. Nobody is saying it doesn't. The track is wood throught the coaster, but the loop is made of steel. Look at it, it does not look like wood, it looks, feels, tastes, and smells like steel.
The track on it is also made of steel, but so is the rest of the coaster's track, along with all other wooden coaster track. It's a flat steel rail. If it was wood, it would tear it up. The construction of the track is what makes it wood or steel, and the coaster has layers of wood with a steel rail on top. Thats why it is wood. But through the loop, it has no wood (or does it? I'm almost 100% sure it doesn't.) so it is a steel loop, but it runs on a wooden coaster track.

Do your own homework!
I have respect for all woodie, no matter how rough they are, see my sig.
And I belive that the Beast had an affair with the Racer :)

Got a problem with RWB? you've got a problem with me! Rollercoasters are the secret of life!

The loop on SOB, has a steel support structure. However, the track on the loop is made of wood, topped by the steel running rails, just as throughout the rest of the ride. What is so different about steel support of a wooden coaster? May I remind you that coasters like Coney Island Cyclone, Hurrican at Myrtle Beach Pavillion, and Hoosier Hurricane and Cornball Express at Indiana Beach all are wooden coasters with a steel supporting structure!

Not to turn this into a mudslinging fest, but I must stick up for woodies here. Cornball is much more thrilling and intense than about 90% of the steel contraptions I've been on. (probably more)

But alas, we are all entitled to our opinions. I was a steel freak once. But I've been converted. With few exceptions, steel just doesn't do it for me anymore.

(Millenium and Magnum are two of the exceptions ;) )

This is directed at and only at Coastersrz. What they he** are you talking about? Have you gone nuts?! The Coney Island Cyclone doesn't have STEEL supports! What the heck. Any coaster enthusiast knows that the classic has wood. 100% wood, except for the running rails, cause there is no way a woodie would run on plain wood. You've gotta be the one of the dumbest people I know. Do you're research.

DD...that wasn't very nice! Look very closely at this picture:

Also, wouldn't you call the Comet a classic woodie? It's the rails that define it really, not the support material.

PS..."you're" is a contraction of "you" and "are". It doesn't signify possession.

Actually The Coney Island Cyclone does have a steel structure.
That was embarassing(sp?). DDFire19, maybe you should do YOUR research.
