Wood Coasters - A Thing of the Past?

Thanks, Verti! I remember years when having 2 new woodies in the US was considered a lot! Wildcat looks awesome and I have high hopes for the SFEV thriller as well ;)

Good call Vertigo....but remember this: A CCI is coming BACK to life....and since you forgot to mention it, it's gonna go on a RAMPAGE...;)

"Come to HW, where our third world-class woodie has a splashdown of pop 'n drool...:)"

With Hammersley helping track Rampage how could the ride go wrong !!

Yes, HW usually does everything right! I wish Will Koch was also VF's GM. Larry MacKenzie may be OK but I think Will would have push for better ride experience. I think Larry may want to add good rides to VF such as SV but Will would push to make every existing ride in the park the best it can be. Simple solution: Fire the head of the maintenence department replace him with someone who likes world class thrills.

HUH?!

Gosh, I take a few days off to recover from oral surgery and look what happens!

Paula - Chuck was just doing some wishful thinking....aloud ;) We know better than to believe anyone but you. Hope you're feeling better after losing your wisdom...

...teeth, that it! Hopefully you've moved from liquid foods back to solids...hey, maybe even pancakes!

Actually...I did make pancakes for breakfast. :) My middle son is a big fan.

I'm still remarkably fuzzy however, even though I've been off the prescription pain medication since Sunday.

Yup, the wisdom is gone. But--brace yourself--the puns will go on!

When it comes to puns - even tooth puns - you wear the crown, Paula ;) I wouldn't have the nerve to even try to come up with any. Perhaps we should give you a plaque to hang in your office giving you the "Queen of Puns" title?

Wooden coasters will always be around. No park is ever complete without a woodie. Plus, it may not seem like it, but there are still things that can be done with woodies that haven't yet.

I think that the numbers and accolades that DisneyLand and Busch Gardens Williamsburg boast would severly rebutt that contention. Wood coasters are fine for what they are, but I *seriously* believe it is only so-called enthusiasts that automatically give them more weight than their steel counterparts. For some reason there is the prevailing notion that for some reason the "good old days" were better than current times and anything that is remincent of such is to be revered.

Personally, I judge the merits of the coaster itself, not the material it is made of. My "top ten" includes woodies, steelies, launched, inverted, shuttles, etc...But *because* there are so many other things you can so with steel, I think you will continue to see steel coasters outpace wooden coasters. But there isnt any indication that woodies will go away for good.

Yeah, that's the drill.

Wooden coasters--I promise--won't go the way of wooden teeth. Not in Santa Claus, Indiana, anyway!

Yeah, we'll just brush that last one aside.

Hostyl - Paula already used "brace" as a pun, above. You can hire me to help you come up with something original...on retainer, of course.
