Wonder Mountain's Guardian gets a Halloween makeover

Posted | Contributed by slithernoggin

At Canada's Wonderland, the park's new for 2014 ride, Wonder Mountain's Guardian, will become Zombies 4-D for 2014's Halloween Haunt. Projections on the ride will be themed around zombies. Some of the special effects on the ride will be moved, and others will be added.

From the park website:

Are you prepared to defend yourself from the invading zombies? Just try to hold them off in this 4D fight-for-your-life adventure inside Wonder Mountain... make sure to watch your back...

Zombie 4D begins with a perilous climb up the side of Wonder Mountain, followed by a quick descent into the core of a terrifying world where zombies roam and are on the hunt for brains. Riders will have an opportunity to showcase their gaming skills as they compete against and alongside their fellow riders, in a bid to come out of this nightmare alive. Good luck.

I was finally going to see it this year, then they had the water main break and I barely got to see anything.

Just me, but I'd rather see the Oceana stadium razed and replaced with a ride-specific building for this, than muck around with the Coliseum.

I've been to events in the Ballroom. It seems to me its a great space to use for group events.

It's generally pretty restricted in what they can use it for, due to the lack of climate control and fire sprinklers.

Sad. It's such a beautiful space.

I thought I read at some point that it didn't have great handicap accessibility either, but that could be untrue.

There isn't an elevator. Interestingly, the senior park managers have offices up there too, overlooking the Kiddie Kingdom area. There's this weird and awkward spiral staircase you take to get up there.

Employees picked up their paychecks in the ballroom when I worked there. We also had some meetings in there. It was an interesting space. People always talked about how it was haunted. People who worked there for a long time had many stories about strange thins that they saw of heard from the ballroom.

I worked at Cedar Point in the mid-80s and have absolutely no memory of where I picked up my checks. I remember picking up my mail at Cedars. I remember banking by mail with my hometown bank in those pre-Internet days. But no memory of picking up checks.
