When did these ferries just start appearing out of thin air? I like the "we suddenly found ourselves in front of it" excuse. Seriously, how can you not see a big boat?

Maybe one of our resident sailors can answer this, but isn't it the responsibility of smaller craft to stay out of the way of larger craft?

Absolutely Jugga. It is amazing these things don't happen more often at Disney. Combine a realtively "dangerous" activity with a bunch of tourists who likley have little, if any, experience on the water and you would think these things would happen more often.

It is much easier to stop or maneuver the smaller boat than it is the larger one. I'm guessing this wasn't one of the large MK passenger ferries but one of the smaller ones that transports guests from Port Orleans to Downtown Disney.

I was told of a particularly tragic accident involving one of those personal pleasure boats and a large passenger ferry in the Seven Seas Lagoon. A crash resulted in a guest being returned to the surface in a number of garbage bags. I can't verify the story but I heard it from a number of different cast members. Needless to say, those boats are not to be taken lightly.
