Woman dies of heart attack on PKI's Top Gun

Posted | Contributed by supermandl34

Karen Krekeler died Friday after suffering a heart attack on Top Gun at Paramount's Kings Island. A preliminary autopsy report showed that Karen Krekeler's heart may have been enlarged and the excitement of the ride, coupled with high blood pressure, may have caused the heart attack.

jrhodes07 is probably unaware that the woman did not know that she had this condition, or he/she probably wouldn't have said it. But to his/her defense, saying that the worst thing about this tragedy was the long walk down to Top Gun, takes the cake for dumb comment of the month. I have very close ties to PKI and she was dead by the time she got to the station. There is nothing that could have been done.

133,

Then perhaps jrhodes should have read the article instead of talking out of his ***.

BTW, I am 99.9% sure Jeff meant that the long walk down to TG was bad due to the fact it would take that much longer for the EMT crew(s) to get to her.

As far as your "close ties to PKI"...are any of them medical professionals? Obviously not - as the real medical professionals at the HOSPITAL thought there was still a chance for her to pull through when she arrived there as they put her on life support.

Also, I find it interesting that someone who is brand new here and has zero posts (posts in news items don't count as posts in the post counts) is sticking up for someone who so blantantly stuck their foot in their mouth...hmm...perhaps _you_ are jrhodes...

Now that I think about it, that is a long hike even from the entrance of the ride to the station house. It rivals the long hike of Viper(SFGAm).

jrhodes. Click the link of the story and read it from top to bottom before posting your thoughts. This will avoid you looking like a complete a$$.

Signs are posted for people that know what medical conditions they have. Its not like they are going to have an "EKG" and blood pressure machine set up at the entrance.

What a truely heartbreaking story to read. My thoughts and prayers go out to all involved.

Here is an article saying the woman was alive when she came back into station, the source that it came from was Jeff Siebert.

This year is not going very well is it? Deaths are on the rise in amusement parks and it isnt even the parks faults. I feel sorry for the child. I could not even imagine what it would be like to be sitting next to your mother on a coaster and watch that happen! I also feel sorry for PKI because you know the fingers are gonna point at them even though it was an act of nature things like this happen all the time just be happy she wasnt driving on a highway at the time her child could be dead to along with other people. That is not a rude comment either i feel deeply for the family. But I hate Lawyers and Political people those two figures are trying to destroy the amusement park world to better them selves!

You're getting worked up over nothing. No one said anything about suing anyone.

DELETED! What time does the water show start?

Thats a terrible story. I feel really bad for the little boy.

That sucks riding next to your mother on a roller coaster and coming back in the station and finding her dead.

Also: Jrhodes, she was unaware of that condition. You obviously didn't read the artical.*** This post was edited by Anaconda 8/2/2003 8:44:09 AM ***

This is a really sad story, my sympathy goes out to all friends and family members. And to think i was just there at PKI 3 days prior to the incident.
