Woman dies after riding Disney's Mission:Space

A 49-year-old woman from Germany died Wednesday after riding Walt Disney World's Mission:Space ride, the second death in less than a year associated with the signature thrill ride. The woman died at Florida Hospital Celebration Health, where she was taken Tuesday after becoming sick following the mock space flight at Epot, according to a statement released late Wednesday by the theme park. Disney told state inspectors that the woman may have suffered from high blood pressure and other health problems.

I was skeptical before riding the ride, Jeff, but it turned out that I found it to be one of the most flawless executions of ride technology I've seen to date. Don't write it off before you take a spin.

I thought the warnings before the ride were pushing excessive and were borderline paranoid. Apparently the warnings still aren't enough.

In regards to the girl who died at SFGAm after riding Raging Bull, she had an enlarged heart AND her family knew about it, as they had previously taken her to a cardiologist.

greatwhitenorth - I believe there is a spanish translation of the verbal warnings. The guide is probably the only thing she could have gotten in German, and all it says is "May cause motion sickness" - how vague is that?

Jeff, the ride has video, audio, and other visual clues to make it feel more than just a box on a wheel type feeling.

M:S is one of the most incredible ride's I've ever been on, I rode it after the little boy died and I'll ride it again when I go down again in a few years. I'd rather ride M:S than, say, Mantis. :)
