WOF Question and Observation

I was at WOF on 8/3 and can't help but wonder two things;

1. All the ride ops on Mamba were manually releasing the lap bars (using the foot release on the back of each car) all day. I thought that Mamba had an all at one time type of release as opposed to the individual car release (like many mine trains and early arrow coasters). What gives?

2. As odd as this sounds, I thought OE was actually running 'smoother'. It seemed that the train tracked better and wasn't nearly as rough. Was there some major work done on either the train or the track lately?

I really enjoy the Simpsons. It's just a shame that I am starting to LOOK like Homer.

Mamba has always had manual release on it's restraints. Orient Express runs smoother when it is warmer outside.

Can't say it any better than that.

But I did notice that OE was running better last summer when I went.

And I also realized it was running horribly this spring when it was 56 out.

Swoosh & Coaster Bill,

Thanks for clearing up the OE thing.

I know that Mamba has always had the manual releases on the cars, but don't they also have an auto-release?

I know they have the air-gates ;)

But as far as I know, at least every time I've been there, it has been manual release.

Swoosh said it perfectly, and CoasterBill ditto on the manual release.

Oh yeah and go White Sox

Mamba has the auto-release function for its release, however, it tends to break early in the season, and is usually not fixed until the offseason.
Mamba does have an automatic system, however thanks to an in-house build, it does not function correctly so they have to use the pedals.

Now it just sits as scenery if you are looking up from the basement.
