My family and I ventured to World's of Fun for my 3rd and Final trip their of the season. I figured that the lines would be short because the Renaissance Festival was in the area, and the Protection One 400 Nascar Race was in the area that day, but the park was actually more busy than my 2 other visits, which is good because the park hasn't had a fabulous year. We rode a ton of flat rides, and all 4 coasters, 2 of them twice. My dad and I would have rode more, but my little brother and my mom were getting disgusted with our thrillriding so we rode some smaller rides too.  Heres how the Extreme rides broke down, on a scale of 100-

Boomerang.

Just that, a Vekoma boomerang....ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Orient Express

Though rather Painful in the back, I really love this ride. Its a very old Steel Looping coaster, that is very rough. When it was built in 1980, it was the largest rollercoaster in the world. It is one of 2 coasters with Interlocking Loops, and well, is pretty cool for how old it is. The interlocking loops are smooth, but the rest is a bumpy, kind of painful ride. Especially with the horsecollars. The Line took a while because they were only running 1 train.

TimberWolf

This is a good wooden coaster. It would be an excellent wooden coaster, but it is also really bumpy. Even more bumpy than the Orient. WAY more bumpy infact. It just doesnt hurt as much because their are no horsecollars. otherwise, this is a great woodie that is nice and twisty, with a good first drop, kind of an out of control feeling, and good headchoppers. The line again took a while cuz they were only running one train.

Detonator

This is not a Rollercoaster, but a S&S SpaceShot (just like Dominator, Power Tower, etc...) Its first trip up is very fun, but then gets pretty average as those kind of rides go. Still very fun, but maybe not worth the long wait.

Mamba

Now THIS is what we're all waiting for. The 205 foot tall Morgan Giant dwarfs everything else in the entire park. And for you Steel Force huggers, this one has a taller second drop and a more intese turnaround. You start with a long lift hill and a 205 foot drop at 75 miles per hour. They followed by a trip up a 185 foot hill, and you plummet all the way down. you then go around an intense turnaround, with the best headchoppers EVER. (After you ride, you'll agree with me.) After the midcourse brakes are the infamous camelback humps my dad loves so much.

All in all, a great day at a great park. And if you have been to the midwest and overlooked World's of Fun in Kansas City, GET OUT THEIR AND MAKE SOME NOISE!!!

Mamba IS the best hypercoaster. According to who? The people who wanted SD2K, they liked Mamba better than MF!

Good TR, I went there last year and found myself amused with the park...and yes, Mamba does have great headchopper effects, lol

According to the Show about SD2K they went and rode Millenium Force and decided to build it like Mamba instead cuz they liked it better.

MambaTim, are you sure. Correct me if Im wrong, but the Japanese officals from Nagashima visited those parks in 99.
You are right, Benard, but it could have even be 98. Go backwards from construction, back through fabrication, then continue back to the beginning of design.  THat's a LOT of time.  My guess is that they rode Mamba back in 98.  Say that rode it at the beginning of the 99 season...that would leave just over a year to completely design, fabricate, ship, construct, and finally test the ride.  That is a little unlikely.
This may be the case, as I may have interpreted the TV show wrong, but the officials still went and rode Millenium Force and still liked Mamba better....so I wont change it.

MambaTim, maybe you need to buy the video. He rode MAGNUM not Millennium Force. Of course, I can see how you got them confused.

I would add that some people having a preference for a particular coaster does not make it better than any other coaster!  There is no such thing as "best"

Since my signature has caused such a ruckus, I have changed it. I hope you guys are happy.

Mamba; The inspiration for SD2K. It doesnt get much better than that. Come to the Midwest;and ride the most underrated coaster in the U.S.
I'm guess not the only one that thinks that Mamba is horribly underrated :)

Nope, according to Steel Force's ranking, it should be top 5.

Mamba rocks ! I like Wild Thing just a tiny, tiny bit better (the airtime on the 1st half is more plentiful).
I wish Wild Thing had that awesome headchopper helix though.

Yeah, though I have never ridden Wild Thing, I assume it should be ranked higher cuz its a morgan in the SF mold. By the way, what number is Mamba on your top list?
