Windows XP & RCT problem!

I have Windows 98 on my mom's computer and RCT works fine.  But on my dad's new computer we have Windows XP Home Edition.  I tried to install RCT and i pop-up window showed up saying that windows XP had "known compatibility problems with Roller Coaster Tycoon, to continue hit OK to quit hit cancel". So I hit ok and the first frame of RCT comes up and then another pop-up comes saying "Exeption Raised: Fatal Violation" or something like that, anyone know if it can be fixed and how.  IM GOING RCT CRAZY!!!!

RCT works fine with XP, IF you have the latest patch installed.

Looney Landscapes works in XP, though you need to d/l the Win2k/XP patch.  The original CD may not work, however. 

It's Loopy Landscapes, and where can I find that patch?

Once again, the Win2K/XP patch is not labled "XP Patch" or anything. It's simply the most recent patch on the RCT website.

yea i got the same proplem,i downloaded a few patches and it still dident work.

Download the patch and everything will be fine.

Ok, I don't feel like searching out all of the threads again, so I'll just post the link to my most recent one. It links to many other topics that this has been asked in. Does CCI know how to make a bad coaster?

I have the same problem. I download the correct patch and I clicked on the icon for the patch and it say the same thing again!!!! "Exemption Raised: Access Violation". Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks for your help, for all who know.

I did download the patch! I downloaded it and clicked on the icon to install it but it stated "Exemption Raised:yaa da yaa da yaa da" So it didn't let me!

Check your permissions on the box, sounds like you might be restricted from changing Windows/system files.

That'd be "Exception", not "exemption".

Like Brian said, check the permissions.  If you're running under a "Limited" account, instead of an "Administrative" one, you may not be able to overwrite some files.

After installing the patch make sure you restart. If you don't it still won't work. It didn't for me anyway.
