windjammer

can anyone tell me why they took this out, it looks awesome. if you rode it, tell me how it was.

They took it out because it was a poorly designed piece of junk. Its problems included but are not limited to:

Severe Stress Fractures

Extreme Headbanging and roughness

Ask anyone who went on it, it was awful, and was matched only by Flashback in its painfulness.

It was the worst coaster ever built. And that's being nice. I try to enjoy every coaster I ride, but I couldn't on that one. I have bee lucky/fortunate to ride a couple of hundred coasters now and it's last on my list.

Cute idea, looked kinda cool, but it could easily win the contest for worst coaster ever.

On top of being amazingly painful, it was a mechanic's worst nightmare. The thing hardly worked.

Do a search on this site and you'll find all kinds of info.

so it was a big piece of scrap metal?

Yes. I don't know of one person who even considered the ride to be average. Pretty much horrible reviews from enthusiasts and GP alike.

Read KraxleRidah's post on this thread. He pretty much lists every problem the ride ever had. Its a long list. :)

There were no stress fractures. Below is the complete listing of WJ's problems. And I believe this is a repeat topic. Use search next-time.

• Misaligned track

• Wrinkles in mainframe of trains

• Faulty restraint system (replaced two weeks later after it opened)

• Could not operate in winds as low as 3 mph or it has a risk of valleying

• Spiral Cone in the helix never worked

• Most of the time, it ran only one side

• Yellow side was retracked just weeks after it opened (retracked as in take track out and putting new in)

• Park spent over $2 million in repairs and maintenance on the ride altogether

• There's more, I just can't think of them

windjammer was not too rough IMHO. Not as bad as viper at SFMM, flashback, and did not leave me with a sore back like psyclone (just horrible). but i rode the smoother red track. the main problems were in design, mechanics, and operating costs. i wonder what happened with the lawsuit. it was filed by Cedar Fair, right, not the Knott family.

Sounds fun (sarcasm). It looked like a fun ride, but I guess TOGO needs a little help with their mechanics. I say they should never have taken that wonderful looking Soap Box Derby Racers out.
