Wind and Rollercoasters

Substitute "enthusiasts" for "kids" in every post in this thread and I'm right there with ya.

I don't know what you're talkin' about. Enthusiasts put the "muse" in amusement park.

I swear, the next person to reference math and science week, gets a swift kick in the teeth.

"Hey Farva... What's the name of that thing at Cedar Point? You know, the one with all the crazy kids bouncing off the walls?"

A few of the complaints make some of you sound just like the children that you are complaining about. I count two Negative Nancies here. Are you two all right? Do you want me to call the WAAAAAbulance? Do you want some cheese with that whine? Jeebus! lol

Yesterday at KI was a great day. Walk on most rides all day, maybe 7 school busses? Beautiful weather. I saw some moms and dads behaving worse than most students.

I hope it's that way next week when I go to Kings Island. ...Unless I go to Cedar Point instead, and then I hope it's that way there.

Has anyone mentioned the appropriately naked "WindJammer Surf Racers" at Knott's yet? Wish we'd gotten more than a look at the ride(s)...

KI on Monday, and CP yesterday were night and day math and science crowd wise.

Monday was no more than a 1 train wait for any coaster in the few hours I was there. CP however, was packed yesterday with kids an hour after the gates opened. Corkscrew had a line, the queue was full for Blue Streak, and the Max Air line was out into the midway (of course, Gatekeeper, Raptor, and Dragster being closed helped cause this in the front of the park).

Then it happened: As I walked towards the front gate around 11 am, a hoard of at least half a million kids swarmed towards me, taking up the entire midway. Wait, maybe that estimate was from my local church carnival!

But in all seriousness - a huge amount of kids were all let in at once, seemingly taking up the entire midway around the sky ride station. Even at opening on a busy day, I've never seen the midway filled with people like that.

When is it inappropriate for WindJammer Surf Racers to be naked?

This Isn't A Hospital--It's An Insane Asylum!

I was at KI yesterday as well. 75 and sunny without a line in the park. I didn't notice much wind, but the park is not quite as open as CP. Those 7 busses didn't do anything compared to the hundred I've seen at CP before. It was like individual classes instead of entire schools.

I do have a new interest in the KI2014 thread now.

CP must have been severely windy to valley Maverick.

Kings Island is very enjoyable because the park doesn't require a ton of walking. Also, if the lines get long there always is Flight Deck to ride. The two best coasters in the park (Diamondback and Beast) are high capacity. Firehawk and Flight of Fear are then ridable in the morning.

Which requires a ton of walking...

But it's totally worth it for the airtime on the first drop....
