I was just thinking if there will be anymore new wooden coasters in the next ten years. I think they will still build them though. But they require so much work and maintenice. What do you think?

Judging by how many new woodies have been built in the last couple of years, yes they still will build them.

They were here for over a century already so I don't see them going anywhere anytime soon. They are also cheaper to build than steel also. As long as people are willing to ride them they will still be built.

I dont know about cheaper. I was always told that wooden coasters are actually more expensive to build than steel ones. I mean maybe if u have steel supports they are cheaper. But wood is more costly, and u have to use more of it.

Nope, steel roller coasters are more expensive than wooden coasters.
O, wood is more expesie then steel, because it is much less sturdy so you need to buy a lot more to support the coaster.

expesie??? I dont think that the price of one piece of wood equals a piece of steel. So, I dont think the buying more wood will make it more expensive.

Say no, to lap bar nazis!
Steel coasters these days usually cost at least $10 million, whereas wood coasters only cost 4,5,6 million $. Therefore, Wood coasters ARE CHEAPER than steel coasters!

I guess in the long run the wood would cost more, given the extra matainance and replacement of wood season after season.

The general rule of thumb is that wood is cheaper to build but more expensive to maintain. Steel is more expensive to build but cheaper to maintain.
As for will wood casters still be around, well yeah I don't see most of the existing ones going anywhere soon, and we do have at least 4 firms building them now.
