Will wooden coasters still be built?

With more and more advancements in steel do you think parks will still want wooden coasters? I think as long as a park has 1 good classic wooden, there OK and dont need any more. It seems everyone wants to set records so there building steel.

Look what PKI did: they had a classic woodie and a record breaker woodie, but they built SOB. I think parks will build whatever brings the people in, and this will always be the truth.

Look at Holiday World...I hope parks build more woodies...nobody wants CCI to go out of business!

With CCI's genius, I hope there are more woodies built.
Plus, woodies cost less so that's a plus. They're a classic, and will always be built.
I think all enthusiasts will agree that wooden coasters will be built for many years to come. They can give great rides for a minimum amount of dollars, and that appeals to both corporate and family-owned parks alike. Every park could do with a CCI, as far as I'm concerned.

I would have to say they will be around forever. Unless there is a wordwide wood shortage, which in that case coasters would be the least of our worries, then I doubt we will see and end to them.

I know some butt will come on here saying...

"They can make the structure out of steel."

Well, to answer that question so I don't have to later, the track is still made out of wood.

Holiday World and Silverwood are almost exclusively wooden! CCI, for example, is a lot cheaper to use as a contractor than say B&M. There will always be a place for woodies. Did drum manufacturers stop making wooden drums because electronic drums came along? No...
If anything, there is a huge resurgence of woodies, and if I may say so, none too soon!

;)Rollercoasters are like parrots...if you take care of them, they should outlive you;)
Family parks thrive on wood to keep opening world class rides at a price that they can afford.
this topic offends me!! WHY would anybody want that?!?!?!?
YES YES YES!! PArks will never stop builing them they r so classic theres no way i would be able to go to a park and not be able to decient a good woodie. YEa steel is great, but u cant mess w/ wood.
Umm...duh. What's park without a woodie?

Maybe I ain't so shy!
Sure they will, though not with the frequency of steel coasters because of their limitations. SOB aside, you don't get inversions on a wooden coaster, and you can't do so many innovations as we're seeing in the steel market. What I believe we'll see instead is a resurgence of the "classic" elements: airtime, out of control, rather than higher-faster.

That's not a very good question. Of course they will.

Yeah, for smaller parks, (Holiday World, Indiana Beach, etc.) woodies are almost necessary. They cost so much less, therefore making them the only alternative (besides small steelies, kiddie coasters, SDC's, Pinfari, etc.) We'll see pleanty more wooden coasters...I love them!

Look at KBF. They have good steel coasters like Monta & Boomerang, but the people come in for GhostRider, a woddie. *** This post was edited by OCHSA Bud on 8/4/2001. ***

As long as there's trees on earth, wooden coasters will still be built.
