"Pt 2, Congratulations, the update on Operation WT didn't escape my notice....great work!"
Thanks Gator!!! I have already noticed some of the effect of my weight loss when I was down in your homestate riding some of my favorite B&M's which were really snug last year. Montu and Kraken last year I needed assistance to snap the buckle on the restraint. This year I had no problems and I could actually get another click in the restraints if I really wanted it :) Still have a bit to go before I fit into those damnable Intiman restraints though :)

Goal: Lose enough weight (50lbs) to ride Wicked Twister in 2K3
Progress: 25 pounds since 1-1-2003
As for traveling, if I had the money to fly somewhere (las vegas, CA, FLA) I wouldn't think twice about it. I'd even put up with the extra time it takes going through security. Although my husband and I found a slight trick...take the red eyes. Detroit Metro is practially dead between midnight and 4 am.

I was more referring to the inconvenience of 3-hour security lines, etc, than fear, although it is good to see that the American spirit reigns supreme amongst coaster enthusiasts. :)
Its not quite the American spirit.. ;) I'm not worried about long security lines, that doesn't seem to be a problem at Schiphol (Amsterdam) or Barajas (Madrid), the airports I'll be flying to / from.

No effect on my travel plans, unless it drives the airlines I have flights on out of business :(

Could be worse pricewise, my neighbor has a Stradavarius violin! $3.5 Million! It's on permenant loan to him, so he didn't pay for it. But, each of his three bows cost more than $10,000.
My mother has a number of violins (she's a concert violinist, though none of them are Stradavarius, much to her chagrine), each well into the 6 figure range, and bows near the 5 figure range. She and my father moved to Germany a few years back, and they wouldn't let her bring the violins or bows as carry ons, and this was before the whole terrorism scare (1996, I believe). Thankfully, they didn't get damaged being checked in, and she had to get some huge amount of insurance on them before they flew.
I'm glad to hear that the airports are much nicer to you about your guitar, especially with all the airport horror stories I hear now...
This year will probably be a great time to hit all of the really crowded parts of the country.

I have tickets to go from Cincinnati to Las Vegas in May. Unless something unforseen happens I fully intend on going. Just yesterday I went to a stadium grand opening that was said to attract 80,000.
But then I also flew internationally (to Italy) two months after 9/11, in fact on the day the plane crashed in Queens, NY.
