Will Thunderbolt Express ever run again?

I love Camden Park but the Thunderbolt Express has been SBNO since 1999. Does anyone know why they closed it or what its future is.

Actually, check out the Trip Report forum.. there is a recent TR there that discusses it. I replied to the same questions there.

No, it won't run again.

The park has been cannibalizing it for bits and pieces to use elsewhere. For example, the railings around their Swan Lake attraction all came off the Thunderbolt Express platforms.

That's sad to hear as I always had hope PKI would get this crazy idea of buying it back. So much for my wild imagination.

Does anyone have any pictures of the ride when it used to be at Kings Island?

Considering that this park lives from season to season, TE's fate has been sealed. It seems that every Spring there's articles in the local paper whether or not this will be Camden Park's final season. Let's face it, the operation needs a massive infusion of capitol, which is not likely to come considering the economic state of the Greater Huntington area.

After looking at the park on opening day I feel the park is doing fairly well. I'm sure the park will be with us for a long time. TE won't though.

Thats sucks. They better get ready to hear from the Coaster Preservation Club!

Good lord....you honestly think that a park is going to give a 14 year old kid a roller coaster? You can't even spell! There isn't one correct sentence on your site.

Let's say you actually were given a free coaster. Do you have the money to move and store it? Erect it? I didn't think so.

I thought CPNUT was pretty dense!

Peabody - while I agree with your spot-on assessment of ThunderFun's preservation site it's probably not a good idea to point out someone's spelling mistakes while making one yourself...LOL! ;)

First off, I am 15, not 14(get it right). Secondly, We are planning national fund raisers. Last and the least of my worrys, "Jeff Putz" was submited and was put there. Maybe there is someone else with that name and age.
