Will The Raven Ever Run 2 Trains?

I was wondering. Will The Raven at Holiday World ever run a 2 train operation at all? If they do would they have to change the brake system at all?

I think the track length and speed involved would prohibit 2 train operation, although it would be nice. But, when I really think about it, why mess with absolute coaster perfection.

I doubt they would ever need to. With great staff running it, short lines, and a short ride, I don't think it would be worth the investment.

Legend, on the other hand, seemed to have a much longer ride time from station to station, so I can see how 2 trains would make a difference.

I don't see a need for it. But if Holiday World keeps getting more popular then the waits could get long enough to justify using two trains. It certainly wouldn't be hard to place one on the run between the station and the lift, although it wouldn't look as nice. But I don't see it happening unless it is needed, and right now it isn't.

I may be mistaken, but I am almost positive that when Holiday world built both the Raven and Legend, they were both set up for 2 train operation. The only modifications that would have to be done would be to add transfer tracks to either coaster (which was obviously already done to the Legend). That is why there is that long straight section just before the lift on the Raven, and likewise on the Legend.

Technically, the Raven has just barely enough braking on it to run two trains, as the train can be reliably stopped on the station approach brake.

But the ride is so short, and their normal (non-event) loading procedure takes so long that they wouldn't gain anything by running a second train. They might have some minor gains using a second train the way they run during Stark Raven Mad, but it wouldn't work real well for their normal operating days.

Hmmm...I wonder how Legend's old train would run as a second on Raven....... :)

Here is what Paula told me a while back, Raven was designed so it could run two trains, That flat run before the 5th drop is capable of having a block brake and extra braking can be added to the brake run.

The thing is, Raven only really has a line from about 10-12 in the morning anyway and still dose not need a second train, The cycle times is short and the great crew is fast and efficient and most ot the time you will never wait more than 10 minutes other than in the mornings before the waterpark gets going.

Chuck, who says SRM Raven waits last year were typically 10-15 minutes compared to Legends 30-45 minutes.

IMHO, Raven dose not need a second train yet and I thank HW for getting two on Legend due to its longer cycle time.

Chuck, who is now in sleepless mode waiting on SRM.

Americana (Now called The great americana amusement park at Lesourdsville Lake) is opening in 2002. Indivdual visits are very improtant to the parks survival.

Moosh...how pathetic was that? :)

The first several posts on this discussion more or less answered the question...yes, we're designed to handle two trains but at this point the lines are long enough to make it worth the $$. Plus the length of the ride is such that a second train wouldn't pick up all that much slack.

Personally, I'd rather see all that money applied toward another coaster. What better way to keep lines short? :)

See you at SRM!

You heard it here first, Paula wants another coaster at Holiday World. And we all know that what Paula wants, Paula gets... ;)

Don't all parks want new coasters?

...I thought it was "What Lola wants, Lola gets....".....but then again, I like the NEW version better.....:)

How much would a second train cost? Would it be the same as The Legend around $250,000?

Is Holiday World pushing for another CCI ;).

Who would want a block brake on Raven?
