Will stand-ups ever have Cobra Rolls?

Will stand-ups ever have Cobra Rolls? There are lots of stand-up coaster but no Cobra-Rolls in them. Anyone know if they will ever have one.

What do you all think?

If a park asks for one, they will get it.

SFgadvman seems like your starting a lot of new topics!

Your new, arent you?

If a park approves a stand-up coaster that has a cobra roll in its layout, yes.

I dont think if they ask for one, they'll get one. I think there is a reason.

There really hasnt been a demand for new element, tall, fast stand-ups. So if they want one they'll get one anything is possible.
Actually Im wondering if another standup will be made in the next couple of years.
They actually have to build another stand-up for there to be a new element. We haven't seen a new stand-up since 1999.

We don't need stand-ups I really don't like them all that much. Chang was ok but I blew out my knee and i was 12! King Cobra is gone and that was the one i actually liked
I dont think you can have Cobra Rolls on them, there was a topic a while back talking about how there would be too many G's. I could be wrong though, thats just how I remember it.

Um, no, the issues would not be g's. In theory you should be able to design any inversion with as many or as few g's as you would want. Also, all of the mega stand ups pull quite a few g's without having cobra rolls, and do some pretty whacky things besides. I don't see in any reason why a cobra roll wouldn't be possible.

Some people though there would never be a zero-g-roll on a stand-up. Now there is Shockwave at Drayton.

Ravenguy,

I agree. I could easily see a cobra roll on a stand-up. I am sure the dip-down in the middle of the inversion would probably have a more gradual curve to it, but I see no reason why it can't be done. Then again, I am no engineer.

I don't think we have seen the last of the stand-ups. It might be a while before we see one built, but I think when one does get built, it could very well turn some heads to those that may have forgotten about the concept. Perhaps some even nerver inversions like a batwing would be incorporated?

Personally, I don't think we'll see many more stand ups PERIOD anytime soon.

It is ENTIRELY possible. The idea that it might pull too many Gs is ludicrous... Try riding Fujin Faijin II at Expoland in Osaka Japan (okay okay, not everyone can just go there:)) to see what Gs are all about. There is a very violent and monster helix (a full 720 degrees) at the bottom of a large drop, and it makes you "sit down" HARD. Not that I enjoy it, but it didn't kill me. B&M could make one, but parks don't seem to like the low capacity too much. I always head to Riddlers Revenge first just to get it out of the way. Just my two cents worth...:)

My site is simple, but totally cool!
I think someone some day will have a stand up with a cobra roll in the near future it depends on the park if they want one also. But I think we will see more inverted coasters before any stand ups. When was the last stand up coaster built? I think it will be a while before we see any more.

When was the last inverted built? 2002, Vampire, Six Flags La Ronde [Batman mirrored-image].

I'm not saying that it couldnt be done, I just remember reading it on year a few months ago.

I seems to me that the Stand-Up coaster craze could be over but you never know.

Here is what I am thinking. Have you noticed how small some loops and corkscrews are on coasters? It looks to me just by observation that the elements like loops and inversions on stand ups are much larger, loops are more eliptical, and changes of direction are more gradual. I'll bet that it is too keep the G's lower. I think a cobra roll can be done, but would have to be bigger that a normal one.
