Well, recently I found out that Japan will recieve a coaster that will top the 300 foot plateau. The park is named Nagasaki Spa Land. This new coaster is slated for August is expected to be bigger, faster, and the longest ever. Will this creation of Morgan Manufacturing topple MF?
Only if you'll be visiting Japan. It's like the Great Wall of China... we all know it's there and it's fantastic. But like Fujiyama before it, the Spa Land coaster will be nothing more than something to talk about for the vast majority of us.

Basically I say who really cares about this new coaster. Japan is on the other side of the world. Even though some coaster fans travel far distances to ride a coaster I doubt that most people even will know that a new higher coaster exists. To me and I know to a lot of other ordinary people out there coasters in North America have nothing to do with those across the globe.

Rumor has it that it will be higher than MF. screamscape i think it is there website has confirmed that it will be 325 ft. opening in august. and we can go on. I am very disapointed in this. You would think that CP would have there own spy's that find out what other parks are doing. That way they would have found out about this and BEAT IT.

so what?
even if they had found out about the alleged 325 foot coaster and made MF 326+ feet, somebody else would come along and beat the record eventually anyway...
enjoy the 310 foot tall coaster and be happy knowing that no matter when the record is broken, CP will most likely regain it again someday :)

It's not a rumor, it will be bigger. Like I said... who cares? One coaster is 54 minutes from me, the other 24 hours. Why be disappointed? "Oh, gee whiz, I'm not going to bother with MF now, because it will only be the tallest for four months."
Perspective, folks... look at the bigger picture.

Not much originallity in the Nagashima coaster. It's basically the same design as Steel Force and Mamba, but with a different turnaround. Besides, if I'm not mistaken, Arrow is designing a 300ft + coaster for Japan that will use lims to go up the hill and reach speeds of 100mph. I would bet that this on will be even taller than Nagashima's. Coaster records are made to be broken. I'm sure we'll see a 400ft thrust air coaster in a few years, possibly at CP.
Well, I can tell that most people do not care what Japan does or how big thier rollercoasters are. But indeed CP will have the first coaster to break the 300 foot barrier which is very cool. I am sure CP will have the record again within the next few years. It is their tradition to be the biggest and the best. I can't wait for May 13!
325 makes absolutely no sense, even less than CP's 310 (not hitting 100m).
325ft = 99m... so it won't be the first over the 100m barrier.
All I have to say is that you have to ride "both" rides before you can judge them.
Yes, it is disappointing that Japan is building a "cool" coaster. I think we all wish it was on american or even european soil. It's one of those american things we have grown up with. Lets just be happy we have MF here instead of nothing at all!

Hey, you never know, it could start sinking and become property of CP!?! ;)

probie: agreed, I am just angry that it will be beaten so soon. i have to admit though that i like the layout of the nagashima coaster better than MF. However it doesn't mean it will be better, and who will know it is in Japan
It's great that MF's tallest record will be broke in such a short period of time! Yes, you heard me right. The quicker more coasters are built over the 300' barrier the quicker the bar gets raised to the next level....400', 500', 1000'! I've heard many coaster designers say the only thing limiting height on rollercoasters is "Can we get people to ride it?" They can control the G-Forces at any height. Since MF's record will be broken in it's inaugural season, I think were that much closer to are next "Big One".
Honestly, who cares what they're building in Japan? A friend of mine pointed out how many members of the public at large still think Magnum is the tallest coaster in the world. It's all about perception, and Cedar Point has that going their way.

Who really cares about 325 feet? People will still say Superman's bigger than the both of em. Sure, if MF was going to be taller, we'd all be on MF's side, but it's not, so lets go with our American...British....German... whatever pride and have a US "coaster" be taller.
And what's the shame of having the tallest full circut coaster in the US? I think that's really great. The analogy I can give is like Japan is to the U.S. as all those Asian geniouses are to us when we were (or are) in school. They just have the better thrill ride country (and bodies!)
I bet we make up the 10% of the Cedar Point visitors that have any idea that Japan is doing this.
So you've ridden Millennium Force already Jeff? Your lucky!

Even though I don't really care about the Japan coaster, I think it would be cool if CP was prepared for it, and knew about it, by announcing the height of MF to be 310, when it was actually more like 340. It be so funny. That would never happen though, because they would have been planning it a long time ago.
It's in your track record.

who cares-cedar point will still be the firs park to host a 300+ coaster-besides it cant be the last 300 footer on the face of the earth.
