Wildcat's Revenge topped off at Hersheypark

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

The pinnacle of the 140-foot tall lift hill of Wildcat’s Revenge was topped off on Monday, April 17. This completes the lift hill structure of the new coaster, which is a steel truss painted black. Rocky Mountain Construction, the designer and manufacturer of the roller coaster, has used a similar lift hill support structure on some of its other coasters.

Yeah, there would be no way to do everything without our Fast Track passes last year. We would probably still have had a good time without (a good amount of major rides still were under 30-45 min), but given their shorter hours we would have missed some of the coasters and any re-rides (I feel like Candymonium is worth at least a few spins if not local).

I think you all have convinced me to invest in Fast Track when we go in July.
I better start saving my pennies now. :)

No doubt. The Fast Track unlimited is $115 per person on the day we are planning on attending. That's more than our anticipated costs at Kennywood, SFGAdv, SFNE, Knoebels (since it's in the area), and Waldameer combined. Now the important question. How is the food at Hershey's? We are considering the all-day dining for $38.

Is it possible that the Fast Track passes are the reason you can't do all you want at the park without a Fast Track pass? Could the passes be causing the lines to be too long?

Yes. I still hate them.

This new coaster looks amazing!

At that price? Probably yes. $115 is a steal for unlimited.

Well, just bought my tickets for a mid-June Friday. Anyone have any tips that don't involve spending $300 for the coaster riders in my family?

Average, but typically expensive. If it's a long day you could get $38 worth out of it.

The BBQ place by the mine train coaster is probably the best meal in the park.

I prefer to load up on breakfast and get dinner at Troegs when I leave and only get a light lunch while in the park.

Same here. I think last time I was there I had a Moe's burrito in the park but otherwise went to Tröegs.

I can’t recall even one Hersheypark food item or location that stood out. Even the chocolate was lacking. (In the park, that is. Otherwise the big factory store was rockin)

My experience at Hershey (caveat: it has been several years) was that the park layout makes it very easy to get sucked into the rides at the front of the park - there's no "go left or go right" choice for quite a ways, so people tend to pile into the first rides they see (Comet and Skyrush on my visit; probably Candymonium now). Outsmart them and head to the back (Lightning Racer, Storm Runner, etc.), and then work your way forward as they are doing the opposite.

That's like Park-going 101, but I think it's more important at Hershey than, say, SFGA or Kings Island.

Thanks. That is useful. It will be interesting to see how this plays out with Wildcat’s Revenge being the new hotness. LR is always a walkon because it has tremendous capacity but also because it’s super far from anything.

On the plus side, I don’t feel any need to ride Fahrenheit again with it’s awful capacity, so that’s a solid hour+ savings.

And Skyrush. You don't have to ever ride Skyrush again, because you value your femur bones.

I used to visit Hersheypark a lot when I lived in PA. I second the start-at-the-back-of-the-park strategy. Wildcat's Revenge should probably be your first ride.

I don't typically eat at the park too much, but the Spring Creek Smokehouse would be my favorite as others have said. The Chocolatier is expensive but delicious if you can get a reservation. There are a lot of good restaurants around the park that I agree, eat a lunch at the park, but go out for dinner outside of the park. Since they started the dining plans the lines for food are always really long.

I don't stay at the park when it's crowded so I can't say which order to ride. I do know on busy days we always ride lightning Racer because it's never more than a 10 minute wait.
