Wild West City gets probation in accidental 2006 shooting

First Assistant Prosecutor Gregory Mueller said the shooting that left Scott Harris partially paralyzed didn’t have to happen. Michael Stabile, the owner of Wild West City in Byram, could have prevented it, he said.

What sucks is how our legal system has screwed things up so much. A person is not allowed to apologize or attempt to make things right, because it's construed as a confession to wrongdoing and makes them more liable for damages. Then during the legal proceedings, they're accused of not showing remorse, and punished more severely for apparently not caring.
