Wild Thing" my new #1

Dateline: Friday, August 9th 11:55pm.

The place: Valleyfair!

The event: Backseat on Wild Thing, asked for the trim brake to be shut off. Wish granted. Went thru trim brake at an awesome 46.9MPH. Next thing I noticed we came out of the tunnel and into the brake run. I have seen the light my friends. This is truly one of the best coasters I have been on.( Only when the brake is off.) Thank you to the Wild Thing staff for the pleasure to ride this coaster the way it was designed to be ridden. I have been on this ride about 500+ times, this was truly a religious experience.

there are SOO many rides that would be much better with the trims off.

And so many that are much better with them LOL.

I for one would hate to ride The Beast untrimmed. It was originally designed with them. I also have to add mean Streak to that list, as Kneemeister said "If Texas Giant is what Mean Streak would be without trims, I'll take the trims."

All I need is 4.5 million bucks and a half a mile long sliver of land and maybe someone could build me my very own Shivering Timbers. ;)

I would love to get a ride on Raging Bull without the trims. I think it would be pure nirvana! You are quite lucky to get such an awesome ride like that on Wild Thing.

heres a few:montu, mean squeak, mantis, timber wolf

1.Fire Dragon 2.Ice Dragon 3.Raptor 4.Batman Knight Flight 5.Kraken

Fire Dragon I have rode Mantis with and without trims and can honestly say I can't tell the difference.

As for Mean Streak if it went back to it's configuration from when it forst opend take off the trims. But with it's current configuration and profiling it is better with them.

Magnum is of course insane when the trims are off.

I can just imagine how awesome Raging Bull or any of the Morgan hypers would be without the trims. The air on RB's second hill would be sweeter then sweet.

But the return trip on those Morgan Hypers would be unreal without the MCB hitting. Wow

Wild Thing Trimless is still my third favorite steel coaster behind Millenium Force and Phantom's Revenge. Its definetly good stuff.

If Texas Giant is that rough, I've got it made... if it's rough to you up north, all your coasters must be smooth!

shoot, even "moderate" trims would've been nice....we got the HEAVY-trim rides....:(

Gotta get another Morgan, sooner rather than later....Steel Force was a serious victim of "anticipointment"....

Question to Valleyfair fan, what are the ridership numbers for Excalibur in comparison to other VF coasters? I have been at VF 30+ times this year and it never has a full train or a wait. I tried to ask one of the girls working on Friday night, but she didn't understand my question....language gap!!
Excalibur is hidden in the back of the park. That's why there are hardly any lines. The first time I went there, I didn't even know it existed, until I looked at a map -after- leaving the park.

I love Wild Thing. Trims or no trims. Of course, no trims would be better

I also managed to get 1/2 a ride on Raging Bull w/o the trims. The trim on the 3rd hill malfunctioned and didn't go off. It was AMAZING ! oUnfortunately, because of the malfunction, we endeded up getting stopped at the mid-course brakes until they could figure out if the ride was safe to continue running. After about 15 min, we were allowed to finish the ride, but it had lost all it's speed and momentum from being stopped. Even with the weak 2nd half, it was still one of the best, and most memorable, rides I've ever had on Raging Bull.

Thursdays thru Sundays we tend to get long enough lines to open additional que lines, and on Saturdays we'll occasionally throw on the second train.

If I remember correctly... Wild Thing, in its first few years, did not almost completely stop the train on the trims. And at that time it was a great ride. But now it's just not fun. The first and second hills have good air, but after that all that's left for air are the hops at the end. With trims, they're nothing. Without trims, they make Wild Thing one of my favorite rides.

When I went to Valleyfair this year, I noticed High Roller had numerous brakes added throughout the ride. Must they ruin ANOTHER good coaster?

I haven't ridden Wild Thing since summer 98, but man, it was amazing then. Almost no trims, and major ejector air on the hops through the tunnels....:) Yummy....

Wild Thing was running trimless today quite a bit.

I have ridden Wild Thing so many times without the trims on, there is a difference ;). There is more air time without the trims.
