Wild mouse coaster at cedarpoint question?

crazy horse's avatar
I dont recall cp ever having a wild mouse coaster, but on a americana(closed park) web site it says that cp bought the wild mouse from them in the mid 60's.

Here is the link

http://www.americanaamusementpark.com/wildmouse.html

Did cp ever put this ride up? If so, where was it?

It also mentions on rcdb

http://rcdb.com/id1781.htm

that there was a "wild mouse coaster in 1959 at cedarpoint,...so this couldent be the same coaster.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I believe there were two...the one listed above on RCDB and a wooden one called the scamper.

I have postcards of them somewhere....

Would Wildcat count as a wild mouse?

Nope...Wildcat is not a mouse.
On one of the historical videos of the park, they do show black and white footage of the Wild Mouse briefly. I think it was located somewhere along the main midway during the time period mentioned on rcdb. I'm just not exactly sure where it was located there (Kiddie Kingdom area possibly?).
I'm looking at an arial pic from the late 60s and the Wild Mouse is at the end of the sky lift. It looks like it could have probably been close to the Corkscrew section of the Corkscrew.

Cedar Point had a Wild Mouse that was on the site of the Mill Race (pre '63). The Scamper was a wooden wild mouse that was by the sky ride and was built in 1962. These were two completely different rides. *** Edited 6/3/2006 9:15:09 PM UTC by Skyrocket1***
Thanks, Skyrocket. My guess for the Wild Mouse location was close, just the wrong side of the midway.

They also had the "Broadway Trip" darkride style coaster which had some mouse like elements. I believe that ride was on the Kiddie Kingdom side of the Midway. (Again, not certain of it's exact location at Cedar Point). Anyway, rcdb lists that it was sold to Palisades Park around 1964 or later. It eventually ended up at Casino Pier in New Jersey where it became the Wizard's Cavern, sadly lost after the 2003 season.

Here is a bit of a visual. My scanner only scans at 150 dpi so the quality is not great. You'll have to zoom in but you can see the Wild Mouse beside the end of the Lagoon across the walkway from the sky ride station.

In the aerial view that is the Scamper, and in the other picture that is the Wild Mouse that was located where the Mill Race was. If you look closely, you can see the edge of the carousel building that was located on the main midway. Also, I agree with you Brother Dave where the Broadway Trip was located, I think it was off the midway where Kiddy Kingdom is. *** Edited 6/4/2006 12:24:20 AM UTC by Skyrocket1***
The heck with the Wild Mouse, did you see some of the clothes those people are wearing?! :)

I'm even too young to really remember clothing like that, yet I'd opt, anyday, for women that wore their clothes with decency.

I'll take that anytime over the ass tattoo's of the present. Screw that pabble.
