Wild Adventures in Valdosta, GA

I'm planning a trip there next month and never here of this park on the "buzz." Has anyone been there and what should I expect? Is there anything that is "must see"? I'm interested in knowing about crowds, animal exhibits, and how the coasters rate.

Thanks in advance.

Cheetah is must see. That's about it...the rest of the park is great, and a *lot* of flat rides, but nothing absolutly spectacular. Crowds vary b/c of the day. If you go on a Sunday, the crowds will be nil.

Wild Adventures was one of the cleanest and friendliest parks we had been to and it has a fun atmosphere and the rides are decent for how long the park has been open. I would say Boomerang, Ant Farm Express, and the water slide were my favorite attractions and Cheetah wasn't running terribly well on our visit.

I recommend to just take the park and rides as you see them and not worry that they don't have out-of-this-world thrillers. Beware Tiger Terror though!! That little coaster will beat you to no end. The mouse was good fun and Double Shot looked like a nice space shot ride. The river rapids ride had a good drop on it and a good build-up and I would recommend at least trying it if you can get on fast.

You'll see several animals to your right from the Cheetah lift hill which was honestly the best thing about the ride. There are several little animal exhibits here and there around the park and it is set up very well. Everything was walk-on when we went, so I hope you have a good time as well. Otherwise, nice little park I would be more than happy to visit again.

Yes, I do agree Tiger Terror is VERY rough for a kiddie!

Anywho, the park generally has no crowds, and there's no rush here. Just ride everything that catches your eye, look at some animals, and re-ride your favorites. It's a very relaxed park, and a good one, just don't go in expecting Busch Gardens. I love Cheetah though, one of the best in the southeast.

Sounds good! I am driving from South Florida so I am familiar with BGT. I won't be expecting quite the same amount of thrill but at least the park looks worth the trip.

I have always wanted to see a map of this park.

I would say the park is well worth the trip. I try to stop everytime I am on the road to Florida from Atlanta and have been known to make a dedicated trip every once in a while even though it is 4 hours from my home.
IMO Cheetah is the best woodie in the southeast and Hangman is the smoothest SLC around. They also have a plenty of other fun rides with very little waiting and the best staff of any park in the southeast.

Your wish is my command! ;)

And no, the map isn't cut off on the right side where Cheetah would be. This is how the 2001 maps looked.

I made a stop on my way to Florida in February. It is a small, laid-back, take your time type park. No need to rush around here, you'll get it all in. Cheetah is the best ride in the park, other than that, nothing much to write home about. I would stop again though next time down to Florida. The animal exibits throughout the park were a big hit with the kids also.

...well, since my home computer is down...:(:(, I couldn't respond until this morning. But anyway, the park is very "kewl", the animal exhibits are everywhere...started out as a petting zoo. Cheetah is great wood, good air, and the figure-8 finale is powerful....

A very smooth Hangman (SLC) and Boomerang will surprise you....the Wild Mouse has great cars. Ant Farm Express is a fun rollerskater (yay!), and Tiger Terror has the coolest train, with pneumatic lapbars. They release with an air hose! Gold Rush rounds out the coaster collection, and adults can ride any of them...7 in all. Sure, a lot of them are smaller rides, but 7 coasters is a lot for a small park.

There are some great flats: Chance Inverter and Chaos, Zamperla PowerSurge (yay again!) and Kite Flyer are the two new rides for adults. S&S Double Shot, Chance Swings, and lots of other rides, including the nostalgic dry sack slide. The water rides: Extremely WET Shoot-The-Chutes, and a funky Hafema raft ride, complete with whirlpool. There's also a wet/dry slide VERY similar to the one at IB. There's been a TON of work around the lake putting in docks, and the food has been drastically upgraded.

I remember visiting the park just a few years' ago when the "parking lot" was dirt, and you could drive RIGHT up to the gate. The park is growing, and FAST. Can't say enough good things about the staff or the park.....:). Go, have a great time, and tell 'em I sent ya...lol.

Lastly, the B52s are playing there in September...on the 14th....
