It's nothing real spectacular, just like any other impulse really. Just with a long train.

Rubberducky, like any other impulse? Yeah...except for that fact that it's taller, faster, and has another spiral on the back end! ;)

If you couldn't tell from my previous post, I am one of those people who thinks WT was a bad buy for CP and that it really isn't all that special. I might get hounded for saying this but before I do remember this is a message board for people to express their opinions and I just expressed mine.

And yeah, your right, it is cool that it is testing and stuff. But it's not all that different from seeing another impulse testing. Riding it may be different, but seeing it tested is not all that different.

good point mr. ducky

I too am one of those people that think CP made a huge mistake by buying the impulse instead of a launched looper like RnRC or FoF. The lines for this thing will be massive to say the least. The guest relations will be swamped all season long with disgruntled guests who expected much more than the 90 second ride has to offer. CP guests have come to expect much more than what they are getting, and I'm sure management will hear it. I know that CP expects to get 1,000pph on this thing, but I really dont think it's humanly possible. I think somewhere in between 600-850pph is a more attainable goal with a shuttle coaster. Yes, it does have 4 more seats than an average impulse, but that is 4 more restraints that will have to be checked, more carry on items to stow properly, etc..

But, I do think that WT is a filler coaster for something better either in 03 or 04. Only time will tell.

Sorry to stray from the testing topic.. my bad :)

WCUSA-The World's largest theme park is coming!
Theme parks will NEVER be the same!

Wait, remember the rumors of dual racing Impulses? Another could be built next to WT although IMO the money is better off put into a new major coaster which would reduce said lines.

As I've said over and over... capacity is not strictly a function of a single ride, but in a big park, a function of all the rides. The more there is to do, the more people are riding at any given time. Attendance is going to be relatively flat, I suspect, at Cedar Point for a long time with minor fluctuations from year to year. Same crowd + more rides = less waiting.

Yeah, okay..but wait 'till you're in line to complain, eh?

I say this as a local near another CF park (VF) who blew a gasket when I heard they were spending $9 million on a three-legged PT. Frankly, I thought PT was such a dumb idea for CP that I never bothered visiting the park when they built it--despite free admission.

Then I finally got on board CP's model. What a rush! Then I drove by VF three times a week (had to, long story) while our local PT was going up and could scarcely restrain myself. It was topped off by Veterans' Day '99, which made for a very, very long winter....

Today I not only think it's a great addtion, I think it's the best PT built. It's a little taller than CP's, has the Space Shot leg KBF's lacks and I have yet to experience a lauch as intense as some that I've had from this machine. Oh yea...did I mention it was 20 minutes from home, too?

Just goes to show you can't truly judge until you're there.

I'm fairly certain that carry on items will not be an issue that will reduce WT's capacity because they won't be allowed in line. Also, I'd hardly call a $9 million investment a filler ride. Parks are in business to make money, not satisfy the craving of a bunch of whiney coaster enthusiasts who expect something even bigger than the last ride to come along every two years. Building a Millennium Force type coaster every two years just doesn't make sense because park is trying to attract families and little kids don't always want to or aren't tall enough to ride these types of rides. CP could sit still for 10 years and they'd still have a better collection than 90% of the parks in the country. We should be happy because CP has added something this year for us (it does happen to be the tallest coaster of its kind), and something for the families that will help their business. Its just smart business if you ask me.

Quite honestly, people might be surprise by the ride experience that WT will deliver. Sure it might look simple, but I'll be honest, I rode SUE last year and I think it's either the first or second best ride they have over at SFWOA with BKF being another favorite. When you take away the lift hill, the ride time on most coasters is about a minute. WT's ride time will be about 50 seconds. Close enough if you ask me. I think WT is a good addition for CP. It gives them an entry into the launched category, it is another record breaker for their collection, and it didn't break the bank, allowing them to spend money on a new show to attract families.
