Wicked Twister Slowed Down?

Is this true? Was Wicked Twister slowed down because of stress cracks? This is pretty depressing if it was.. Afterall, I am looking forward very much to riding it when I go to Cedar Point in August.
I was there the Saturday after July 4th and it only goes all the way up the back tower once instead of both times. I was kinda disappointed when I saw it. I never rode it before this so I don't know if it originally did go all the way up.
If it's reaching the same height on the towers, then it is going the same speed. There have been cracking issures on the towers along with alignment issues on the LIMs.
Yes, when I was there it didnt go fully up any of the towers. It was a good 20ft from the top of the front tower on its fastest launch, and it got around 15ft from the back on its second time up, since it doesnt accelerate backwards the first time up the back spike. Which really sucked. That back spike was incredible.

When I was there, it didn't go all the way up the towers anyways...it was only to the last spiral then it went back down..no where near the top..and this was the end of June.

i don't think it is supposed to go all the way to the top, i think it's built to go with some cushion track...but if it's not going through the station fives times then it did get modified...

Think of it this way:

If it's going really fast and it goes all the way up the spike and it's still got momentum...the little thing at the top can't help that much. If you read the stats it says that it doesn't go all the up to the top.

Plus, the launch gets faster each time, so it doesn't go all the way up the first time.

In other words, to answer your question, no.

I love roller coasters, and I need psychiatric help. Or a roller coaster.

If it's getting 15-20 feet from the top it's reaching its design height. No impulse is supposed to get all the way to the top.

From what I have heard it has in fact changed from what it was originally.

The original sequence was halfway up the forward spike, all the way up the back, all the way up the front, all the way up the back, half way up the front.

If that is not how it is now it has chnaged but I have been sick and haven't been to the point since coastermania. On the three times I was at CP before coastermania the sequence was like that above.

1989, 9 years old bawling my eyes out because I didn't want to ride Magnum. I did anyway and look at me now. Why did ya make me do it Dave? ;)

The height of the ride is 215 ft. The drop is 206 ft. That's nine feet from the top. If its 15 or 20 ft away from the top than it's not going as fast as its designed to.
Yes and no, the top of the ride is 215, but it doesn't drop to ground level. It drops 206 feet with 9 feet to spare.

MagnumForce is correct, the ride has been toned down a bit. Apparently, the ride order now is half up the front, half up the back, 3/4-all the way up the front, 3/4-all the way up the back, and half way up the front versus what MagnumForce posted. So to answer your original question, yes, it was been slowed down. This isn't to say that it's not a good ride. The mph change is probably around 3.

Korn Tour (With no name)--Korn, Puddle of Mudd, Deadsy

I believe they are only running Wicked Twister at approximately 65-68 mph at maximum speed right now.

It will go back to it's own self in late August- September. Here is an e-mail for Monty Jasper:

Dear Brandon, I received your email and thought I would respond. Wicked Twister is running a different program for now. This is being done so that the manufacturer and Cedar Point and can work on several issues with the ride. As soon as these are addressed this summer, the ride will be returned to it's old form. Thanks for your interest in Cedar Point. Sincerely Yours, Monty JasperVice-President of Maintenance

Perhaps this is the issue Jeff was saying would depress alot of enthusiasts. Hope they get it worked out, and it is better than the V2 situation at SFGAm last year.

Probably not. We have been talking about this over at GTTP for a while now.
